If you have any other questions than what's listed here, please reach out to either Shar or Chad :)
Question

What is the dress code? What does Garden Party Cocktail mean?

Answer

The dress code for the ceremony & reception is garden party cocktail. Please refer to the picture up top for inspiration for silhouettes and colours. Ankle-length dresses/cocktail attire are encouraged. Lighter, floral, or spring tones are lovely, and if you prefer darker colours, grey, navy, or green are also absolutely welcome. Suits, sport coats, tailored pants, dress shirts, and formal jumpsuits are all great options. Ties are optional. Choose footwear that’s dressy but practical for walking on grass (block heels, wedges, loafers, or dress shoes). The dress code for the welcome dinner and breakfast is smart casual.

Question

How much will it cost to stay at Barnabas Landing?

Answer

The total lodging cost for two nights at Barnabas Island is $400 CAD or $310 USD per person.

Question

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

Barnabas Landing is located on Keats Island, which is only accessible by boat. We’ve arranged private ferry rides for all guests departing from Horseshoe Bay. If you're flying in, the nearest airport is Vancouver International (YVR), followed by a car ride to Horseshoe Bay. 💡Visit our "Travel" tab above for more details like the full ferry schedule and how to get to Horseshoe Bay.

Question

What should I pack for the weekend?

Answer

Pack for both celebration and comfort! The ceremony and reception will be semi-formal - dresses, dress shirts, and slacks are all great options (just keep in mind it’s an outdoor setting, so pointy heels might be tricky!). It's also possible the weather can be a little rainy and on the cooler side. Before the ceremony on May 16, you’ll likely be hanging out on the island - think casual clothes, layers, and comfy shoes for walking on dirt paths. Bring a jacket or sweater for the evenings, and if you're up for paddleboarding or lounging by the water, toss in a swimsuit too!

Question

Do I need to book my own lodging?

Answer

Nope! We are renting out the entire venue so we will manage the bookings. If you’re attending the wedding, lodging is at Barnabas Landing for the nights of May 15 and 16. If you’re staying in Vancouver or Richmond before or after, we’ve listed hotel suggestions in our "Travel" tab above.

Question

Can I bring a guest or my kids?

Answer

Our guest list is limited due to the intimate nature of the venue, so please refer to your invitation for details. If you have any questions, reach out - we’re happy to help clarify!

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

The ferry schedule from Horseshoe Bay, BC is listed below and in the Travel tab: Leaving Horseshoe Bay to Barnabas Landing: → Friday, May 15: 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM It's recommended to show up at least 30min before the ferry leaves to give yourself time to find parking, consolidate your luggage, meet at the dock, and settle onto the ferry. Those traveling on the Friday 2pm ferry will have dinner provided. Those traveling on the Friday 6pm ferry should plan to eat before hand.

Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

The RSVP page is now live! Please RSVP as soon as you can prior to April 1st.

Question

How do I reserve a room on Barnabas Landing?

Answer

The whole facility is reserved for our wedding, and rooms will be provided after RSVPing. If there are any room accommodations you need, please let us know ahead of time.

Question

What is there to do on the island?

Answer

Keats Island is very local, there isn't a main road on the island, so safe to say a majority of the time will be sent at the venue. Luckily, there is a lot to do, including: Nature walks, kayaking, paddle board, pickle ball, tennis, hot tub, pool, games, soccer field, and plenty of places to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view. There will be a list of activities to partake in when you arrive. There will be free-time Friday evening and Saturday morning for everyone to do as they please.

Question

What if I have dietary or accessibility requests?

Answer

If you have any dietary or accessibility requests, please reach out directly to Chad, Shar, or email: shar.chad.wedding@gmail.com Requests can also pertain to the likes of "please have coffee available". Keats island is a small, local island so there won't be stores, shops, or cafes to explore. We're trying to ensure everyone will be comfortable!

Question

What if none of the Ferry times work for me?

Answer

Please reach out to Chad and Shar, we can work with you to try to schedule an additional ferry time, ie arriving Saturday instead of Friday as an example.
