Engagement

9/6/2020

Every weekend at the cottage we would walk to the Tibbets Point Lighthouse from my moms house. Labor day weekend was the last weekend up at the cottage for the summer. I had a little bit of too much fun the previous night with cousins and was not feeling great. Anthony woke up and asked me to go on a walk to the lighthouse. I was really not interested in going but my mom called and wanted to go as well. I finally pulled myself together and grabbed the dogs and we went to my moms. We slowly but surely walked to the lighthouse and as we got there, Anthony asked me to take a picture in front of the lighthouse for the last cottage weekend for the year. I thought this was very weird but said ok why not! My mom took her phone out to take pictures at this time and put it up in front of her face to take the pics. I had Beau (Jenna's boxer) with me and Anthony had Brinkley. As we got to the right spot in front of the lighthouse, I was trying to get Beau to sit down in front of us. I thought Anthony was getting Brinkley to sit down. Meanwhile, I hear a women behind my mom say "oh my gosh I think he is proposing!" At this time my mom screamed "what?! who?! oh my god!" She was realizing that Anthony was getting down on his knee. Anthony did not tell my mother that he was proposing so she ended up getting all of the pictures slow motion of this happening. My mom and I both were shaking. She was crying! I was shaking so bad that I had to sit down. I then thought oh my goodness and asked Anthony if he asked my dad for his permission. He said of course he did when they went fishing about a month prior. I was so surprised as we talked about getting married but was not aware he had bought a ring. We continued to celebrate this day by going to Dodge Bay on the boats with a bunch of family and popped champagne! 🥂

How We Met

Anthony and I both went to Niagara University where we knew of each other but were not friends as Anthony was a year older than I. After graduating college, we both moved back to Rochester to start our lives. In 2017, I received a message from Anthony asking me if I was interested in grabbing a drink with him. At that point, I did not follow through with going out with him. A year later, my friends and I were at City Grill for dinner where I noticed Anthony and a friend sitting behind us in the next booth. I thought for sure he saw me when we left. I found myself having weird dreams that next week and Anthony was in them. A week later I bit the bullet and messaged him. This is something I never would have done! At that point I said "thanks for saying hi at city grill last weekend!" joking around and he told me that he did not even see me! After this conversation, we met up on St Patricks Day and ending up having our first date shortly after. This is what started our relationship and the rest is history!
