This is one of our favorite things to do in Vegas. It's a great way to fully immerse yourself and get acquainted with the city. Each hotel is it's own complex packed with restaurants, bars, shops, and of course, a casino. There is so much to look at and get distracted by, so grab your favorite drink and sip your way from one hotel to the next. Some of our favorite hotels are Venetian/Palazzo, Bellagio, Caesar's Palace, and The Cosmopolitan.
The downtown area, or “Old Vegas,” is a nice escape from The Strip and favorited among locals. The table games are cheaper than on The Strip. Our favorite casinos are El Cortez and The D. Downtown has great nightlife and includes street performers, live concerts, and a fantastic light show several times nightly. Also here is Container Park, an open-air complex featuring bars, restaurants, and shops, all made out of shipping containers.
***Shows are currently in the process of re-opening following closures due to COVID-19*** While popular shows can be a bit pricey ($100), a Vegas show is absolutely worth the price. This is always one of the highlights of our trip. Consider going to a matinee for cheaper ticket. Popular shows include Absinthe, David Copperfield, and any of the Cirque du Soleil shows.
The fountains run every 15 minutes and are best at night. Then wander inside the Bellagio, just beyond the hotel lobby, and see the beautiful, very instagrammable indoor garden that changes four times yearly in accordance with the seasons. Both the fountains and garden are free.
Enjoy 30 minutes of panoramic views of The Strip on this massive ferris wheel while sipping some drinks from the bar located inside each pod, which can hold 25+ people. Tickets can be booked day-of and vary slightly between day versus night.
Topgolf is a massive restaurant and sports bar with the highlight being the interactive driving range, which even non-golfers praise!
Stand along the sidewalk in front of the Mirage to watch the 10-minute volcano show consisting of erupting fireballs and tall explosions synced to music. Shows are free and are at 8, 9, and 10PM.
For you thrillseekers, there are several options: Zipline in Old Vegas from 70 ft high ($30), Zipline at the Rio hotel from 500' high ($25), Roller coaster at NYNY ($17), Various rides at the top of the Stratsophere hotel ($30).
There are ample shopping all over Vegas but the main shopping centers include The Miracle Mile Shops (Planet Hollywood), Forum Shops (Caesar's Palace), Grand Canal Shoppes (The Venetian), and the Fashion Show Mall (just beyond Treasure Island).
