We first met in Port Aransas, Texas. Shannon had just moved to Austin and joined friends for a weekend on the coast; Matthew arrived late and was introduced to her shortly after he got there. The next morning, the two found themselves side-by-side making breakfast for the house. With no gas on the island, they had to get creative—but the easy teamwork and laughter came naturally. Over the next year, they grew close as friends, sharing lake weekends, holidays, and plenty of adventures around Texas. Shannon admired Matthew’s integrity and steady character; Matthew was drawn to Shannon’s outgoing, caring, and adventurous nature. In December 2023, Matthew offered to help Shannon move and then took her out to dinner—the moment their story shifted. They quickly realized how much they shared: a love of family and faith, the outdoors, cooking, traveling, and simply enjoying life together. That connection only deepened as they explored Colorado, Illinois, Italy, France, and many places in between. In April 2025, while paddleboarding on Lake Austin—one of their favorite activities—Matthew surprised Shannon with a proposal. She couldn’t have been more excited to say yes. Now, they’re thrilled for the next chapter and grateful to celebrate the beginning of their marriage with their closest friends and family.
