Alec and Shannon met at Virginia Tech while working for Dining Services at Squires Student Center. Alec did his very best to impress her during her first shift at Au Bon Pan, showing her ropes on the sandwich line with more detail than necessary for the job. The two quickly fell in love. Shannon graduated with a BA in Public Relations in the Spring of 2016; Alec graduated the following semester with a BS in Civil Engineering.

Our long time friends (Callie and Zac, hi!) were coming to visit us from out of town for the weekend. As we were about to leave for "Fire in Ice" in Downtown Frederick, Alec claimed to want to stay behind with Zac to play video games and they would meet up at Idiom (our favorite brewery) later. Shannon left to meet her friends. Around sunset, Shannon and her friends walked to Idiom heading over a Carroll Creek bridge when she hears Alec call her name. He got down on one knee and asked her if she would marry him, and before she said yes, she let everyone know she knew it was happening (although suspicious, she totally didn’t). She said yes! Alec turned to show her that their family and friends gathered to celebrate and bare witness.
