Wedding Party

Anthony DiMartino

Best Man

Short and Sweet, I’ve known Joe before he even took a breath. I’ve been blessed to call him many things over the years, travel buddy, workout partner, sailor boy (hehe), little brother, my hero, and my best friend. And I am honored to be called his best man, I have tried to be that for him before I even knew the term. Love you brother. Now let’s get you married so we can dance the night away!

Kimberly Puruncajas

Maid of Honor

I’m lucky to call Shanna not only my sister but my first (and forever) best friend — sorry Joe, she was my best friend first! Growing up with her has been one of life’s greatest blessings. I’ve watched her grow into the strong, independent, and beautiful woman she is today, and I still look up to her... just like I did when we were little and I thought she had superpowers lol. Of all the stages of her life I’ve gotten to witness, this one might be my favorite — and yes, I’m 100% biased. I get another dog to spoil and the brother I’ve always wanted…win win! I truly can’t wait to celebrate the love Shanna and Joe share — it’s genuine, silly, honest, and full joy. It’s the kind of love I hope everyone is lucky enough to find.

It all started back in spring 2010 when Joe came to visit the U of R for the weekend. I was freshman at Redlands, and Joe wasn’t even attending yet, but we were both at Anthony’s apartment and Joe and I partnered up for beer pong for the night. The rest is “history” as they say. From intramural games to organizational events, campus leadership and service projects, Joe and I became great friends over the next few years, and then kept the dream going when we moved out to LA for grad school, where the party house with Anthony and Omar lived on for a great year! Post grad years led us both to San Diego where we continued the adventures of Valle and Palm Spring trips, double date nights, and sporting events! If I know anything about Joe - it’s that he’s a loyal friend, a great dancer, and an even better person. I’m honored to be in the party!

Officiant

warm, playful, and loving in spirit :: the gentle smile after a good cry or the firm hand that holds you through it :: cheesy in abundance, uniquely fabulous, and infinitely genuine—these are just some words i would use to begin an attempt at describing my relationship with Shanna, my quite literal north star, life long friend and eldest sister. and, i (we) have been waiting for you too, Joe <3 to be given the honor of wedding officiant means embracing the sacred that exist between this special pair; to bless their (re)union in this lifetime and the many spiritual returns to each other that follow. ¡¡Viva Joe y Shanna!!

From fierce rivals on the elementary school basketball court to lifelong best friends, my history with Joe runs deep. He's not just been a friend; he's been a constant, standing by my side through every milestone, big and small (including my own wedding where he was the best man!). He's been my closest friend for as long as I can remember, and I couldn't be happier to celebrate this incredible new chapter in his life.

My friendship with Shanna blossomed from our roommate days in college. Our bond first began over reggaeton music, which grew stronger over long study nights and dance outings. It was a bond that was built over a foundation of  mutual respect and care. I’m happy to know that over a decade later we can still call each other to share our lives despite of the different chapters we are living and still being each other’s support system. Seeing Shanna and Joe’s , relationship has been a beautiful experience.  I am ecstatic to see that she has found her soulmate - someone as kind and lighthearted as her. I wish Shanna and Joe a marriage full of light, love and ever lasting happiness. Cheers to gaining another friend and be a witness to the happiest day of my dear  Shannista! Thank you for your friendship and being a great Tía to Sofía!

Met Joe at old Woodland Park Middle and his afro had more volume than the morning announcements I anchored. He was part of the party/cool kids crew (still is), so I played it cool from afar. By high school, we ran in the same circles, but he was still way too cool to approach. It wasn’t until college that he finally let me into the fold and we’ve been besties ever since. From slamming 40s behind bowling alleys to goth raves, nerdy binge watching to real life grown up stuff, being part of each other’s journey has been so special. Love ya Joe! I’m so happy for you brother 🤙🏼❤️

Shanna and I met at the young ages of 19 and 20 years old when life was just beginning on our own terms! Looking back, I can truly say we have seen each other grow and have many memories to show for it. As girls from “the valley” who both played volleyball and were bound by the sorority cult life, I knew we’d be close friends forever. Jk on the cult life, but truly, our sisterhood played a key role in our friendship and I’m so grateful that our paths crossed. From reggaeton nights in DTSD to stories in bed as roomies, I loved the times when it was us and our girls ruling the world. But, what I love more is seeing her in love and happy with the sweetest guy and their wild pup Grey Wind. It brings me so much joy to see them join in their life together in this new way and I’m honored to have been convinced to watch Game of Thrones because ultimately it led to the day they met and started their love journey. Cheers to a beautiful continual journey of marriage and friendship. Love you, Shanna!

Joebin’s one of those friends who’s been around so long, it’s hard to remember life before him. We bonded over basketball and I Love You, Man, and that bond’s only grown stronger. Still quoting “Slappin’ da bass, man!” like it just came out yesterday. Whether we’re talking Lakers or just catching up, hanging with Joe always feels like old times—in the best way. Ram, baby!

Bridesmaid

When I first met Shanna, I just knew we’d become great friends! I invited her to a beach day, and from there our friendship took off. We bonded over our love for travel, being sorority sisters, and eventually becoming teachers. It’s been such a gift to grow through so many stages of life together, and now I’m so excited to celebrate her as a bride!

Our friendship? It's a tale as old as time... well, at least since 2010 when we first met at THE University of Redlands. But the plot twist? We were actually neighborhood kids who didn't even know it! Since then we’ve conquered adulthood side by side including years as roommates, students at USC, work colleagues, late-night adventures, and questionable decisions (but we turned out alright!). We’ve also dominated (okay, participated) in several sports leagues despite having more aches and pains than points and wins. Joe has been more than a friend; he's been family. Watching him find his perfect match in Shanna fills me with so much joy. Wishing you all nothing but joy and happiness, cheers!

I met Joe back at the University of Redlands in my first class there, he was serving as a TA. Ever since he has taken me under his wing becoming my Big in our Sibling-hood organization. We have shared countless memories over the years through our shared love for sports, cinema, video games, and nerd culture. I'm honored to stand by his side as he begins this next chapter.
