From the Lyft to the Lift

The train conveniently broke down on September 29, 2018. I peered at the long line for the bus, but, naturally, I was running on thin time for my flight. I opened Lyft and selected a shared ride to the airport. I opened the car door and asked a gentleman with the most beautiful blue eyes if he would lower the middle console for my extra-large coffee. He politely did. I thought to myself, "ohh, he is cute." I watched him check for his passport in his backpack twice (Total Mike Move, for those that know him). He sat calmly and didn't even check his phone. We both remember our first conversations down to each word. Me: "Where are you headed?" Him: "DC" Me: "Oh, to save the world?" Him: "Haha, something like that. Where are you going?" Me: "Houston to see Taylor Swift" Him: "Way better" The conversation flowed as we approached the airport. We said goodbye, and I walked away thinking, "now that's a missed Craigslist connection." I went upstairs only to find I needed to be downstairs for security lines, so I made my way downstairs. I quite literally bumped right back into Mike. Denver airport is spacious and one of the busiest airports in the US. A divine act running back into each other. Him: "So, do you have TSA precheck?" Me: "Duh" Him: "Good" We made our way to TSA after Mike confirmed I had adequate status. Mike still hadn't asked for my number. Finally, I looked at him and said, "I'm new to Denver..." and he quickly followed up with, "Can I have your number?" (Finally!!!). Laura picked me up in Houston, and I told her about the encounter. The first thing she said was, "omg, what if you marry him?" (#sisters). Two weeks later, Mike returned from DC and took me on our first date. We closed down El Chapultepec, the only two people dancing the night away to the jazz tunes. We didn't take a Lyft home but walked a few miles back.. we couldn't stop learning about each other. The rest is history, and we are so delighted you will share in our future in June.
