FAQs

The Wedding Website of Jordan Marie Ross and Ryan Ayer Shanks
Question

Invites?

Answer

Invites will be sent summer 2025. We just wanted all guests to have access to the website sooner than that!

Question

What do we need to know?

Answer

The final song of the reception before heading to the after party will be "You Never Even Called Me By My Name" by David Allen Coe. Why? Because when Ryan was in Athens (studying very very hard) every bar closed out the night with the same song so why not close out our wedding the same way? We highly recommend listening to it and learning it ahead of time or you'll be one of the few people not belting it at the top of your lungs. You can find all the other answers you need below and if you think of something not covered, feel free to reach out to us!

Question

What is the parking situation? How do we get from event to event?

Answer

There is ample free parking behind the ceremony site in lots along Beachview Drive (good point of reference is the Golden Isles Welcome Center). All wedding events are a quick walk (5 minutes walking or less) from there. If you'd like, you can also drive from the ceremony to Palm Coast, there is limited parking around the building on Oglethorpe and Mallery Streets.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

At the end of November, a typical day in SSI would be highs in the mid-to-high 60s and lows in low-to-mid 50s, with light wind and low chances of rain. We will update this closer to the wedding as forecasts are released.

Question

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception are all outdoors but are mostly covered. We also have backup spaces at each venue in case of inclement weather. If the weather forecast is chilly, we will have heaters at cocktail hour/reception after the sun sets.

Question

What's the dress code really?

Answer

We are serious. Come as you are, we just want you to come!!! If you *must* have a dress code for your own piece of mind, think beachy cocktail and wear your dancing shoes (there will be light walking between events, ~2-5 minutes, and a mixture of concrete, brick, and gravel floorings).

Question

Can I take photos at the wedding?

Answer

Absolutely! Please take pictures and share them with us (we plan to create a shared album that everyone can add pictures to); however, we do ask that you refrain from taking photos during the ceremony itself. We've hired a photographer so you can be fully present in the moment and rest assured someone is clicking away to document it all.

Question

Where should we send gifts?

Answer

Truthfully, what we want most is to celebrate this day with the friends and family who have supported us both individually and as a couple over the years so the best gift you can give us is your presence. If you can't attend or would like to offer an additional gesture, we've created a small registry on this site.

Question

Am I allowed to bring a guest or my family?

Answer

We’ve addressed the envelopes and set up the online RSVP system to name each invited friend or guest. If you have any questions or need more details, just reach out!

Question

Are there reserved blocks of rooms at one or more hotels?

Answer

We have not reserved any blocks of rooms. Instead, we recommend staying in larger groups in rental homes/condos in the area.
