Our Story

It all started in early 2007. We met in the hallways of James Madison High School through a mutual friend. We found out that we took the same bus home and would find each other in deep conversations where Winston would miss his stop and would get off with me at my stop. Fast forward to the start of our senior year later that year, we continued talking and eventually made it official on October 1st, 2007. We were your typical football player and cheer captain couple. Winston would walk me to all of my classes and we would spend any extra time together before we had to go to our respective team practices. Senior year was so much fun, but unfortunately it all came to an end when we graduated and went to separate colleges. We still remained friends, talked over Oovoo and Skype (throwback!) and even hung out when we were back home during school breaks. We continued our friendship through the years, however in 2017 our lives went in different directions and we lost touch. Funny enough, we actually continued to follow each other on social media, keeping up with each others lives. Fast forward to 2021, we were both single and decided to reconnect. After Winston took me out for my birthday and we caught each other up on all that we couldn’t see on social media, a spark re-ignited. At the end of the night, I dropped Winston home and before he got out of the car he told me “Just so you know, I still love you, I’ve never stopped loving you, and I’ll always love you” (Is someone cutting onions right now?! 🥹) I drove away with my heart beating a million beats per minute not knowing what to say. We continued talking and re-getting to know one another and it felt like old times all over again. We decided to start dating and on February 13th, 2022 Winston asked me to be his girlfriend (again). Our relationship continued to flourish as we spent hours on FaceTime, took vacations together and spoiled each other for our birthdays. After a year and some months, Winston created a plan that would change our lives forever. With the help of my family and friends, he planned a game night, that was actually a proposal. During a game of ‘Who’s Most Likely?’, across the screen read “Who’s most likely to get proposed to?” I immediately put my hands up, while our friends stared at me with their cameras out. At 12 AM on October 1st, 2023 (16 years since he first asked me out in high school 🥰), Winston got on one knee and I said “Hell yeah!” Now here we are. ❤️ #JourneyToJohnson
