FAQs

We are still in the early planning stages of the wedding. We will post updates on this site as things slowly come together. If you have any questions other than those listed here, please contact Shania or David via phone call, text, Facebook Messenger, or Discord. It is best to reach out via group messages to both of us for a faster response.
Question

Can my children attend the wedding?

Answer

If your children are aged 12 or above, they are welcome to attend. However, due to safety concerns we are unable to accommodate young children at our wedding. The venue is adjacent to a pond, in front of a forest, and located on an active farm. We are sorry if this makes it harder for anyone to attend, and understand if you must decline our invitation as a result. This rule will apply to all participants in the nuptials, we will not even have a young flower girl or ring bearer.

Question

May I bring a plus one to the wedding?

Answer

This is on a case by case basis. Spouses and engaged couples are all welcome to attend together. You are welcome to invite the person you are dating if you are to the point where you would invite them to a family function, or if David and Shania know them as well (most unmarried couples that we know will only receive one invitation, but both parties are invited). Please make sure to list the name of your plus one when you RSVP. Please do not invite someone you are unfamiliar with just to have a date. If you are unsure if this means you are allowed a plus one or not, you may reach out to us and ask. We apologize for being vague.

Question

Where will the wedding take place?

Answer

All wedding events will take place at Hummingbird Hill Farms in Perry, GA (2000 Houston Lake Rd, Perry, GA 31069). The entry gates are clearly marked on the southeast side of Houston Lake Road. Follow the drive all the way to the back of the property (passing the two houses and red barn) to find the venue and parking.

Question

What time should I arrive to the ceremony?

Answer

Try to arrive to the ceremony between 1:30pm and 2pm.

Question

What's the best way to RSVP?

Answer

You will be able to RSVP on Facebook via the event we created, by reaching out to us directly, by returning the RSVP card sent on your formal invitation, or by using the RSVP tab of this website. If you RSVP by multiple means please know that we will honor the RSVP page of this website first, then the RSVP card, then anything you've told us, then the Facebook RSVP. You cannot RSVP for additional guests using Facebook, so please keep that in mind. You can easily change your RSVP responses using our website and it automatically updates the count for us, so this is the preferred method. If you mailed in an RSVP and something has since changed, please reach out to us directly.

Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

May 11th, 2024. If you can no longer make it to our wedding after this date, please let us know. If you fail to tell us about your intention to attend before this date, we cannot guarantee you a seat at the wedding.

Question

Can I take pictures during the ceremony to post on social media?

Answer

Please refrain from having your phone or camera out during the ceremony. We wish for every guest to be able to fully experience the moment. Pictures taken by photographers during the ceremony will be shared on our socials, so everyone will be able to look back on the event. Pictures are welcome during cocktail hour and the reception.

Question

Will childcare be available?

Answer

No. Due to safety concerns we are unable to accommodate young children at our wedding. The venue is adjacent to a pond, in front of a forest, and located on an active farm. There is no good space to dedicate as a childcare room. Please do not bring any children under the age of 12 to the wedding. We are sorry if this makes it harder for anyone to attend, and understand if you must decline our invitation as a result. This rule will apply to all participants in the nuptials, we will not even have a young flower girl or ring bearer.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

If you want to coordinate with the wedding colors, we suggest wearing any non-neon shade of blue, green, or pink, as well as darker purple shades. Earthy brown and grey tones will fit in nicely as well. The bridesmaids will be wearing light purple gowns and the groomsmen will have light purple ties, so please avoid light purple in your outfit. Please do not wear coattails or a cummerbund, as not even the groom will be wearing those. Please do not wear a fully white (or white adjacent) dress. You are encouraged to stick to the fancier end of the spectrum and wear at least ankle length dresses and skirts, and long sleeved button down shirts with (this does not apply to blouses or dress bodices) with a tie and jacket, but this is not required. We don't want people to feel uncomfortable in the clothes they wear to out nuptials. The official dress code is loosely Semi Formal. This means three-piece suits and gowns are welcome, and so are slacks and jackets, cocktail dresses, and even blouses, button-downs, dress pants and skirts. Do not wear shorts.

Question

Will the ceremony, social hour, and reception take place indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will be indoors and climate controlled. The social hour will be held outside under a pavilion equipped with fans and cold refreshments; you may step inside and watch the space be flipped if the heat is absolutely too much for you. The reception will also be indoors and climate controlled.

Question

Is there parking available at the wedding venue?

Answer

Yes. There is ample parking in a dedicated field close to the venue. Please contact Shania if you need a reserved space close to the venue due to limited mobility.

Question

Is handicap parking available?

Answer

Guests can be dropped off at the font of the venue, but reserved spaces close to the front can be set up upon request for guests with mobility issues. Please contact Shania to request a reserved space.

Question

I have dietary restrictions or food allergies.

Answer

Worry not. There will be ample gluten free options available at the event (including cake) since the bride is gluten intolerant. These options will be clearly marked. For severe gluten intolerance/celiac disease, and other dietary restrictions or food allergens, please let us know on your RSVP card, along with severity/seriousness. For allergies and restrictions which do not mind the possibility of cross contamination, we will clearly mark friendly options at the buffet. For those for which cross contamination is unacceptable/dangerous, we will prepare your plate separately to serve you individually.

Question

What type of food and drink will be served during the social hour and reception?

Answer

We will serve iced tea, coffee, lemonade and water at the wedding. Hors d'oeuvres will be served during social hour, and dinner will be served buffet style. Dinner will include a chicken and a fish option.

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

No. Alcohol will not be served at the wedding.

Question

Have you booked hotel room blocks for guests?

Answer

We have secured a discounted rate for our guests at Best Western Bradbury Inn & Suites in Perry, GA. Details can be found on the Travel page of this website.

Question

Should I bring a gift to the wedding?

Answer

Your presence is present enough, but should you wish to bring a gift to our wedding, there will be a gift table and card box for your convenience. We have gift registries which can be found on the "Registry" page of this website.
