Estes Park is full of things to do and see. We enjoy the wide variety of shops on main street, the serene rivers running through the middle of town, and the visitor centers to the park. One famous attraction is the Stanley Hotel, which was where "The Shining" was filmed. If you have time, visit "Fall River Jewelry and Antiques," our favorite shop in town full of unique historical artifacts and jewelry.
Rocky Mountain National Park has hundreds of miles of trails to explore, scores of animals to see, and a paved highway crossing the continental divide that has unmatched views of the surrounding wilderness. For the best possible views, we recommend driving up Fall River Road, stopping at the Alpine Visitor Center (12,000ft), and then driving Trail Ridge Road back down to Estes Park. If you want to make a day of it continue past the visitor center and on to Grand Lake on the west side of the park. If you plan to visit, make sure to book your timed entry permit ahead of time, or arrive early in the day. Details can be found here: https://www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/timed-entry-permit-system.htm
Indian Peaks Wilderness is another hiking and recreation area south of the wedding venue. Brainard Lake is a stunning alpine recreation area with plenty of hiking trails and picnic spots. If you decide to go, book an entry permit from the website, available two weeks before your planned date of visit.
