Our beginning

Fall 2016

Bride’s perspective- I still remember the first day I met Shane. He was crazy, outgoing, and fun to be around. He started coming with a friend to the youth group that I went to and I didn’t realize at first but when we started to hang out more I saw how easy and enjoyable it was spending time with him. Many group outings turned into us getting closer while Shane became Someone I felt comfortable with and could have fun with. He was the first one interested in us officially being in a relationship but I didn’t want something to happen where I would lose him as a friend. Overtime He showed me how someone can be both. He cared about the little things that mattered to me and how to help me enjoy life with the memories we created. Saying yes to being his girlfriend only made our connection stronger and Shane will forever be my best friend. Groom’s perspective- I was just along for the ride when my buddy decided to go pick up some friends from youth group. Later on that night Katelynn took my hat while we were driving down a dirt road with the windows down and I thought to myself that this was the start of something new. After that night I looked forward to hanging out with Katelynn. I saw a friendship in her that I didn’t see before. It was easy and carefree spending time together. The late night conversations and the real connection we had, made me start feeling like this friendship could become more. I started to go out of my way to pursue this as a relationship and as time progressed I was falling harder for her than I thought I would.

The Proposal

Las Vegas Nevada October 16, 2021

Brides perspective- I always get asked if I knew it was coming but when he popped the question I was in shock. We decided to travel to Las Vegas for a weekend to meet up with some friends. we wanted a getaway so we went down a day before to go on a horseback riding tour in the canyons for our anniversary. Now at this point we’ve been together 5 years so I did sneak a peak to see if Shane had anything in his pockets on the way there and he didn’t. I figured he was waiting for another moment or the right time to ask and that it wasn’t going to be on this trip. We had an amazing time and after the trail sat by the bonfire to finish the evening. Shane then asked the tour guide to take our picture with the desert behind us , got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. It was definitely a perfect moment that I’ll never forget and I was completely surprised. Grooms perspective- The months leading up to the proposal I was nervous yet the thought of how much I wanted to spend my life with Katelynn made me full of love and at ease with this next step. I wanted to show her and her family the man that I could be and when I asked her dad if i could marry her I was filled with joy with his acceptance. I decided to propose on our anniversary vacation to make it special and memorable. Trying to hide the ring while sharing luggage was tough but not as tough as hiding it the day I proposed. I knew Katelynn would be too nosey and it would be too obvious in my pocket so I had to hide it well. We were going to ride horses through the canyon in Nevada and riding the horses was so much fun. Looking at my potential wife glowing in the sunset, I felt so much love for this woman and couldn't imagine waiting any longer. We got back from the ride and had a nice steak dinner. I wanted to ask right then and there. We had gathered around a campfire and my heart felt like it was going to pound out of my chest. The tour guide asked if anyone wanted there picture taken and I thought this is the perfect time to ask the big question. As I got down on one knee it felt like time slowed down to a stop. As Katelynn said yes I felt over joyed and felt like I could jump over the moon!!
