Shane and Emily met in the Winter of 2019 when he was 26 and she was 22. After their first date, they immediately began spending all their free time together. They would go on various food dates around Providence, take impromptu trips to Target, or watch movies at Emily's tiny North Providence studio apartment with her beloved kitten, Zoey. Even little Zoey took an immediate liking to Shane. About three months into their new relationship, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, which led to them spending even more time quarantining together in Emily's, once again, very tiny studio apartment. While for some, the close corners and frequent time spent together could strain things, it just helped them fall more in love with each other. As the months progressed and the COVID-19 restrictions began to loosen, Shane and Emily could take more day trips together and adventure to more places. Then, in December of 2020, Shane and Emily took their first big road trip together and traveled down to Georgia (with Zoey!) to see her family for Christmas (this was Shane's first time visiting Georgia). This trip was the first of many trips down to Georgia to see the Almeida/Cordeiro clan. As the years passed, Shane and Emily knew without a doubt that they were each other's person and wanted to spend their lives together, so in September of 2021, they took the first major steps towards their life together and moved into their first apartment in Cranston with their cat, Zoey.
Shane proposed to Emily under a gazebo overlooking Scarborough Beach on a drizzly autumn day in Narragansett. Despite the unfavorable weather conditions and Emily's premature suspicion, it was a memorable and beautiful proposal that will be cherished forever.
