Mount Beacon Trail
A quick, one mile hike up Mount Beacon to see the gorgeous views of the Hudson Valley
Main Street, Beacon
Main Street in Beacon is about a mile long and has cute local shops and eateries throughout! Parking is relatively easy. Our favorite shops include Mountain Tops, Bank Square Coffee, Utensil, Hudson Beach Glass, and Blackbird Attic.
Two Way Brewing
A place for a local brew! Great all around selection.
Dia:Beacon
Perfect for those who want to check out an eclectic art museum influenced by New York City artists, or just want to make fun of string hanging from ceilings and piles of dirt on the floor!
Bannerman's Island
This island is just down the river from Beacon and has an incredible 1900's castle on it. You can take the Bannerman's Island tour where the boat departs Beacon down at the river by the railroad, and brings you to the island. Round trip, 2.5 hours.
Industrial Arts Brewing Company
Another local joint for a beer. There is outdoor seating and a good beer selection!
Dennings Point Trail
A quick flat walk out and back to the point of Dennings. Beautiful views of the Hudson River and Bannerman's Island in the distance.
United States Military Academy
A beautiful campus to walk with stunning views of the Hudson River. You can walk amongst the old buildings and get a glimpse into life at the Academy. Free to get onto the campus.
The Culinary Institute of America
The other CIA. A great place for more lovely views of the mountains and Hudson River. Get a taste of the students' work by having a meal at one of 10 student run restaurants on campus. We recommend CIA Apple Pie Bakery Cafe. Check to see if reservations are needed before arriving.
Walkway Over the Hudson
A beautiful 1.28 mile walk (one way) across the Hudson River. The bridge is an old railroad bridge turned walking/biking trail. Parking nearby is free. Sunrise and sunset on the bridge is gorgeous.
Draught Industries
Located in the middle of Main Street, Draught is built into an old alley way. Ironically this narrow bar has the widest selection of beers on this list.
Scenic Hudson's Long Dock Park
Artfully designed dock on the Hudson River used for fishing, a kayak launch and a picnic spot. Kayak rentals can be found at this website:https://www.mountaintopsoutfitters.com/pages/rentals-available-7-days-a-week-weather-permitting
Beekman Golf Course
A reasonably priced public golf course nearby with golf cart and club rentals.
Metro North Railroad to New York City
If you've never been to New York City before, this is an easy way to get down there! The Beacon train station is right on the Hudson River, and it only takes an hr and a half to get to Grand Central Station. From there, you can access Times Square, Rockefeller Center, The High Line rail trail, the Empire State Building, Broadway shows, and some of the best bagel/pizza/sub shops you'll ever find!
Breakneck Ridge Trail
This is one of our favorite hikes to do here in Beacon. It's got fantastic views of the Hudson River, and has a steep rock scramble to the top before looping back down to the road. With 3.2miles and 1200ft elevation gain, it's the perfect hike to get up high quickly and get a lay of the land!
Bear Mountain State Park
We grew up going to the Bear Mountain Park Zoo, pool, ice skating rink, hiking trails, and carousel (shout out to Uncle Rob who was the architect), and still love it today! There are tons of great hiking options, as well as the ability to walk across the Bear Mountain Bridge to the Anthony's Nose trailhead or to hike a bit of the Appalachian trail.
Mohonk Mountain House
The Mohonk house is a beautiful place to hike, enjoy the lake, have dinner and just take in the scenery of the area. Bonticou Crag and Labyrinth/Lemon Squeeze (https://hikethehudsonvalley.com/hikes/mohonk-mountain-house-labyrinth-and-lemon-squeeze/) are our favorite hikes if you're looking for something challenging with views!
Barton Orchards
If you're in the mood for apple-picking, Barton Orchards is the way to go! They've also got vegetables to pick, live music, a tap room, a farm stand, corn maze, petting zoo, high ropes course with ziplining, and hay rides. And it's near the wedding venue!
Angry Orchard
This is the original site where Angry Orchard hard ciders were first brewed! They have tours and the tasting room available Thursday-Sunday. It's perfect for fall pictures in the fields of this 200+ year old farm.
Woodbury Common Premium Outlets
If you're looking for a good place to shop, can't go wrong with Woodbury Commons. While we don't have many big shopping centers around, Woodbury has plenty of brand stores in case you're looking for something to wear last minute!
Sloop Brewing Co.
Another fantastic brewery, located perfectly between the hotel blocks in Fishkill, and the farm in Poughquag. Great selection of eclectic beers in the old IBM facility. The food is delicious!
