Starting as high school sweethearts, Shaela and Grayson met through her sister, Alina. Before they started dating, the three of them played Slither.io until 3am on several summer nights. Alina tricked Shaela into going to the Eagles Ballroom for swing dance in exchange for a Domino’s pizza. There, she met Grayson before they eventually were in the same high school math class. Grayson’s never been that great at math, but that allowed him and Shaela to spend an extra hour together each day in Pre-Calc office hours. After graduating high school, they stayed together though Shaela’s time at UW and were long distance when she worked at Disney World (with several weekend visits, of course). After she arrived back in Washington, she immediately returned to Disney— California, this time—where Grayson proposed at one of Shaela’s favorite spots; Cars Land. After the engagement, they both worked at the Washington State Legislature during the 2024 legislative session, spending lunches with each other. They now live together in Lacey, WA with their dog, Mulan: Shaela’s dog who was born just two months before they started dating. Growing up with Grayson, Mulan views him as a dad, just as much as she views Shaela as her mom. The three of them enjoy spending nights in, playing games with friends and family, and reading. To this day, Shaela never received the promised pizza from Alina, who insists the dozens of pizzas Grayson provided over the last 9+ years is delivery enough.
