We were set up by Keely's boss, Tricia, who also happens to be one of Shad's Mom's best friends. One Saturday night Keely got a text from Tricia telling her she had a guy that Keely HAD to meet. The only issue... Shad lived in Scottsdale and Keely was in Nashville. Shad found Keely on Instagram a couple days later, and then a couple weeks later they were introduced during a zoom meeting with Tricia. Tricia 'conveniently' had to leave 10 minutes into the meeting and Shad and Keely stayed on chatting for another hour. The relationship blossomed as they spent many nights Facetiming for hours (really, like, 4+ hours at a time, multiple days a week). Luckily the romance started during the pandemic when dating 'long distance' was cool and there were plenty of long-distance date ideas to try out. Shad took the plunge first and came to Nashville to visit Keely. And as they say in the movies, the rest is history. <3
After a week long trip to Montana in which they didn't get engaged, Shad and Keely took a vacation/work trip to California. On Saturday, October 15, they took a guided bus tour down the Pacific Coast highway to Monterey and Pebble Beach. At the final stop of the day, in Carmel, they walked down to Carmel Beach to take pictures. After some convincing, they walked down to the beach so Shad could "walk in the water". Shad had Keely stand, looking away, while he was getting the camera ready to take pictures of them. Keely was a little impatient while all these pictures were being taken, but Shad was nervous trying to get the ring out of the back pack. Finally, Shad walked up to Keely and while recording, he got down on one knee with the Pacific Ocean crashing in the background and proposed.
