On the day our worlds collided we were both at work. I had just been subject to a cancelled flight which ended with me working the red eye flight out of Denver on the way to Atlanta. Matthew was doing the last of his observation flights with the pilots before he began his new career at Frontier Airlines. He wasn’t originally planning on taking the red eye flight out, but wanted to get home to his kids sooner. During my time at Frontier, I always made it a point to talk to the new people at work to make sure they felt welcome. Throughout the boarding process I stood at the front of the plane talking to Matthew about his life and plans for his new job (instead of greeting passengers😆). After boarding was over and before the flight deck door was shut for the rest of the flight, I handed my phone to him with the keypad showing. He asked me if someone had lost their phone and if he needed to take it up to the gate. I rolled my eyes🙄, smiled😆, and said “no I want your number silly.” He gave me his number and we took off headed to Atlanta. Frontier doesn’t have wifi so 4 hours had to pass before I was able to text him. When we landed at 5am after we said our brief goodbyes, I quickly (and probably desperately😅) texted him to see if the number he gave me was real. The number was real and the rest….. is history! ❤️ ✈️
