On Disney Cruise Line there are three main dining rooms (also referred to as MDRs): Royal Court, Animator's Palate, and Enchanted Garden. We will be rotating through each of the restaurants throughout the cruise. As people book the cruise, our Disney Cruise Line wedding coordinator has been linking your dining to ours so that we can have the same dining rotation. They will also place us in the same area of each restaurant. You will have the same servers each night of the cruise, as they travel to each restaurant with you. In addition to the three main dining rooms, there are two specialty dining options--Palo and Remy. Both Palo and Remy offer brunch (on specific days) and dinner nightly. The DCL site describes Palo as, "Savor classic Northern Italian cooking with a modern twist at this chic adult-exclusive restaurant," and has a prix fixe option of $45.00 per person as well as a la carte options. Remy is described on the site as, "Offering the most luxurious dining experience on board, Remy is an adult-exclusive restaurant serving fine French fare." This is a more expensive fine dining experience but if you are a foodie, it is INCREDIBLE. If you wish to book any specialty dining you will do that through your DCL Navigator app or the DCL website; you'll want to do it as soon as you are allowed to book activities as they quickly fill up. You can also *try* to book as soon as you board the ship. If they do not have space you can request to be put on a waitlist.
In addition to the travel to Tortola, St. Thomas, and Castaway Cay, your fare includes all of these onboard offerings: Broadway-quality live shows; deck parties (Sail Away & Pirate Night show complete with fireworks at sea!); pools (both family and adult-exclusive); waterslides & recreation; spacious staterooms; variety of restaurants and deck quick service food options; 24-Hour Room Service where you can order as much as you like (included in the price of your cruise--just please tip your server!); adult-exclusive activities; fitness club access; clubs for kids, tweens, and teens; and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay! At Castaway, you get the chance to relax in paradise with beach chairs, umbrellas, waterslides, and a barbecue lunch.
This cruise is just as much our wedding as it is a vacation for you and your family. Once onboard we will keep everyone updated with what we are doing and where to find us for some of our activities, but we aren't requiring anyone to follow us. We will make sure to exchange Navigator App numbers on embarkation day before we depart so that we can send out quick information about what we are up to in case you'd like to join! Here is an example of what this may look like: Day 1 - 1:00-2:00 Meet us at the Bon Voyage bar in the atrium to say hi before we begin our journey! Day 2 - 9:00 am We are heading to the Quiet Cove pool area on Deck 11 if you'd like to join us! Day 3 - 9:00 am We are heading to Satellite Falls on Deck 13. You get the idea! Closer to when we set sail, we will have a better idea of what to expect.
For service throughout the ship from everyone EXCEPT for your stateroom host, server, assistant server, and head server: An 18% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine, deck service tabs and spa services. All gratuities can be charged to your onboard account. If someone provides superior service you are welcome to add little extra on or give them a little extra in cash if you wish. For room service since there is no charge we normally keep a little stash of ones in the room and give the person who brings the room service order around $3.00-$5.00 total depending on how many items we ordered. For your stateroom host, server, assistant server, and head server you can add gratuities on ahead of the cruise or they can be added to your onboard account once you board the ship and will be charged to whatever credit card you link to your stateroom account. If you pay it in advance or through your onboard account the total per person for a 7 night cruise is $101.75. DCL then takes the total gratuity amount per stateroom guest and breaks it down for each service individual as follows: $33.25 for your server (your main waiter), $26.25 for your assistant server (the waiter primarily tasked with your beverages and clearing), $8.75 for your head server (runs the dining room), $33.25 for your stateroom host (cleans and maintains your stateroom). All prices listed above are *total* per person for the 7-night cruise. DCL will give you a ticket that reflects that amount and you will place that in an envelope labeled with each crew member's role. You are welcome to add a little extra in cash for superior service.
Room service is available 24 hours a day (except for the morning of the day we get off the ship). You will find the room service menu on your Navigator App. Some of our recommendations are wings, BLT, chicken tenders (both regular and gluten free--the GF ones are even crispier), and the All Hands on Deck cheese plate. The cheese plate is a great thing to order when you head back to the room to shower to get ready for the evening. We often order two and enjoy them with some wine in our cabin. The SECRET items that you can ask for are Cake of the Day, warm chocolate chip cookies, and Mickey Ice Cream Bars! Folks have been known to order the cookies, take the ice cream bar off the stick, and make it a sandwich with two cookies! Another good tip is to order PB&J Uncrustables. They are great to take off the ship if you are heading out for an excursion or sightseeing (just make sure you keep it sealed). Room service is free so just remember to tip the server a few dollars. There is also a continental breakfast menu in the desk drawer that you can hang on your cabin door at night to have coffee, pastries, etc, delivered to your cabin first thing in the morning for you to enjoy while getting ready. The slip is self-explanatory; just remember to check off the time you want it delivered and set your alarm a little early to be ready to receive the order!
1. Valuables: There is a safe in every cabin where you can keep anything important like identification documents, cash, jewelry, etc. 2. Cash: It's a good idea to bring some small currency with you (1s, 5s, 10s). We use cash to tip the porters who take the bags, room service, and sometimes we give cash to the bartenders or bar servers. It's also a good idea to have cash for visiting the islands. 3. Dining Room: You are allowed to order as many appetizers and entrees as you like. To be honest, Karen often orders two entrees because sometimes she wants to be sure she will really like at least one of them, ha! You can also order a Mickey Bar for dessert, which is a secret menu item! Chase prefers to order his sans sprinkles. =) Also, plain salads and baked potatoes are always available.
