Flying in

Here are all the airport details!

We flew into Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP). Once you go through security there are multiple ways you can get to Lake Como- Bellagio with different price points: Private Driving Service: There are many driving services that can be booked in advance to take you from the airport straight to Bellagio (Est:1hr 30 min). Example: Transfeero Rent a Car: There are rental cars on many websites including "Hertz". However, be mindful of the limited parking in Lake Como and the extra documents required. Taxi/Uber: A taxi is able to be called to transport from MXP to Bellagio. However, be mindful of taxi scams that may increase prices along the way. Uber is also able to transport from MXP to Bellagio, there may be limited Ubers available. (Est: 1hr 30min) Train then Ferry: We took the Malpensa Aeroporto train ride located in MXP airport to Milano Centrale station and took a connecting train to Varenna Esino station. (Total train time Est: 2 hr). Once we arrived at the Varenna Esino station there is a ferry station down the street that took us straight to Bellagio. Tips: Download apps 'Trainline' and 'Rome2Rio' to book train and ferry tickets ahead. When we went to Italy we chose the adventure and decided to take the train from the MXP airport to Varenna. From Varenna we took a ferry ride to Bellagio. It was a very easy travel day since we booked our tickets ahead!

Taking the Ferry

The ferry is a quick and easy way to get around Lake Como!

There is a ferry station dock on each "town" around Lake Como. Ferry time runs from 8:00am-Evening. Each ride is 5-30 minutes depending on where you are headed and very inexpensive! Ferry tickets are able to be purchased at the walk-up station or you can book your ticket ahead/see available times on the "Rome2Rio" app. One of the first Italian phases we learned in Italy was: "Due Biglietti, per favore" (Two tickets please!)

Bellagio

We choose to stay in the town of Bellagio on Lake Como.

Bellagio is a quaint town that is extremely walkable. It is filled with shops and historic buildings. Bellagio has a ferry port that can easily take you to any other town on Lake Como. Bellagio is filled with great attractions, wine, and our favorite...the food! There are many "towns" to stay in around Lake Como. We recommend all guests stay in Bellagio. Bellagio is a great location to easily visit other towns and it is the closest to the wedding venue. The boat ride and wedding bus will both be picking up from Bellagio.

Hotel/Air Bnb

Where to stay?

Bellagio does have both hotels and Airbnbs. However, because Bellagio is a small and historic town, Airbnbs are more common to book than hotels. We found an amazing room surrounded by restaurants and cobblestones. A tip would be to make sure your where you are staying is within walking distance of the ferry port! Please review our FAQ page to see hotel recommendations in Bellagio. There are many Airbnbs on the "Airbnb" app. When we visited Italy we booked our stay in the heart of Bellagio on "Booking.com" and had a great experience!

Food and Drinks

Lake Como has amazing food!

Please see our recommendation page that will list places you need to check out in Bellagio.
