FAQs

Still have a question that's not answered here? Don't hesitate to reach out. We're so happy you're celebrating with us!
Question

What happens if it rains?

Answer

The ceremony is fully indoors, so no worries there. The reception has both indoor and covered outdoor spaces, so rain or shine, we will be able to celebrate! We'll send an update if anything changes significantly regarding our plans.

Question

Where can we learn about updates?

Answer

Right here on this website and via email. If anything changes, you'll hear from us in both places, so make sure the email address you RSVP with is one you actually check!

Question

When do I need to RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP right here on this website by the end of the day on July 31st, 2026. After that, we won't be able to guarantee any dietary accommodations or make modifications to the guest list, so the earlier the better!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

- Welcome Event: Casual - Ceremony and Reception: Formal / traditional wedding attire (see below for a couple of small restrictions!) - Brunch: Casual

Question

Anything I should avoid wearing?

Answer

A few things worth knowing: - Please skip solid white, ivory, or off-white — that one's for the bride! - No stiletto heels are permitted inside the Cottage. The venue has beautiful historic floors and we want to keep them that way. Block heels, wedges, kitten heels, and flats are all completely good! - Please avoid all-black outfits, we'd love the celebration to feel festive and bright! The exception is a classic black suit, which is always welcome.

Question

Should I dress for the weather?

Answer

Definitely. DC in September can be gorgeous but unpredictable: warm during the day, cooler once the sun sets. The cocktail hour and reception flows between indoor and covered outdoor spaces, so plan accordingly. The ceremony itself is fully indoors, so you'll be comfortable there no matter what.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony begins promptly at 2:30pm. Please plan to arrive at least 15–20 minutes early. Once the processional begins, we won't be able to seat late arrivals until there's a natural pause.

Question

Is there parking?

Answer

Church: Although there is no guest parking at the church, the two hotels we've recommended are only about a 3-4 minute walk from the church, so you can leave your car there until the reception! If you're staying further away, the church is also accessible by bus and Metro via the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro stop. Reception Venue: Yes! There are approximately 100 parking spots on site at President Lincoln's Cottage. When you arrive, you'll need to give your name at the gate. Please make sure it matches what's on your invitation or RSVP.

Question

How do I get from St. Mary Mother of God to President Lincoln's Cottage?

Answer

Both are accessible via public transit, rideshare, or driving. We're exploring Uber or Lyft discount codes for guests to get from the church to President Lincoln's Cottage, although this is not guaranteed. Stay tuned for details closer to the date! If you have any concerns about getting between venues, feel free to reach out, and we'll help figure something out.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Yes, check out the Travel page for our recommended hotels and room block details.

Question

What should we expect about food and drinks at the wedding?

Answer

We are planning to have drinks and small bites during the cocktail hour, followed by a buffet-style dinner at the reception. We also plan to have an open bar at the cocktail hour and reception. Some drinks will also be available at the Welcome Event.

Question

I have a food allergy or dietary restriction. What should I do?

Answer

Please include your dietary needs when you RSVP. If you have a severe allergy or dietary restriction and want to discuss it further, feel free to reach out to us directly.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Plus ones are included on select invitations. If yours includes a guest, you'll be able to add their name when you RSVP. If it doesn't, we unfortunately aren't able to make exceptions. Our venue capacity is tight and each additional guest adds significantly to our final budget. We appreciate your understanding!

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

Children of family members are included, but we'll unfortunately not be able to accommodate any additional children at the ceremony or reception. That said, they are more than welcome to join us at the welcome event or brunch! Please feel free to reach out to us directly if you have little ones that you'd like to bring to other events throughout the weekend.

Question

Do you have a gift registry?

Answer

We will! Check the Registry page on this website for updated details. Your presence at our wedding truly means the world to us. A gift is never expected but always appreciated.

Question

Can I bring a gift to the wedding?

Answer

We'd strongly prefer for gifts to be sent directly through our online registry when possible. That said, if you'd like to bring a card or envelope, there will be a card box at the reception.

Question

Will photos/videos be permitted?

Answer

We'd love for you to be fully present with us during the ceremony. Our photographer will be capturing everything. At the cocktail hour & reception, please feel free to take all the photos/videos you want!

Question

Can I share photos/videos online?

Answer

We plan on sharing an album that guests can contribute to with pictures and videos throughout the evening that we'd love you to upload to! Once we're officially married, you're welcome to post - please feel free to tag us directly! More details to come.
