"You and me, we're in a club now"

Our story begins back in the Fall of 2016 while some friends and Jose were having yet another get together to welcome everyone back to UCSB for the start of the school year. A mutual friend, Francella, introduced Selena to Jose, they said hi and then went about their night. A few months passed and Selena and her sorority sisters started hanging out with Jose and his friends a lot more. Jose started to get to know her a bit more and tried getting her attention. She was super busy and was not looking for anything at the time so it was hard to find some time to hang out with her and get to know her more. After a few months, Selena finally gave Jose a chance and they hit it off, continually studying together or just hanging out with each other. In April of 2017, Selena and Jose officially started dating and their lives were forever changed. In Selena's and Jose's first year together, they both lived in Isla Vista and were able to hangout often - building the relationship. After that first year, they spent the majority of their relationship as long distance as Selena had to move around for work and to start her Masters program at USF while Jose had to stay in Isla Vista to finish school at UCSB. This put their relationship to the test as they had limited opportunities to get to be together, but they learned how to take advantage of those moments together and it made their love so much stronger. In 2019, Jose made the decision to study abroad in London. They were both really nervous because this would mean they would be seperated for 4 months and, initially, they weren’t sure how to navigate this. But they devised a plan for communicating and FaceTiming - even though there was an 8 hour time difference. During that time, Selena went to go visit Jose and they would spend a whole week together getting to travel around and Jose got to show her all that he learned while in Europe. Shortly after Jose's time abroad, he moved up to the Bay Area and they have been loving not having to travel 5+ hours to see each other. Like many relationships, there have been challenges in their relationship but they overcame them together and learned so much along the way. They can't wait to move forward into the next chapter of their lives together and share their special day together with those that they love and hold dear in their hearts.
