Caleb and I first "connected" with each other through his older sister, Courtney, while I was studying at Calvin. Courtney and I lived in the same dorm and it soon became a joke between us- and Caleb's family- that he had seen one of my pictures and had developed a crush. After one and a half years of social media stalking, our friendship started blossoming via deep texting chats while I studied abroad in England. Over the course of that semester, we lost touch and when I returned home (newly single) he was the furthest thing from my mind. Throughout my summer in Cleveland, Caleb and I reconnected and soon our texting chats turned into hours of phone conversations. I officially met Caleb in August, two years after having first heard of him, when I came to visit friends in Grand Rapids. After an initial awkward hug and nervous conversation, we decided to meet up for ice cream before I drove home. Throughout our conversation at Captain Sundae, Caleb's forwardness in assuring me that "We would date and end up together," was met with my tentative "We will only just be friends.” Well, he was right. His confidence and charm completely won me over and the rest is sweet, sweet history.
We started our day by picking up breakfast from a local restaurant called Mr. Burger, where we had eaten on our first date. We then proceeded to mosey around before getting lunch with his sister, brother-in-law, and nephew at a diner called Franks, where he had asked me to be his girlfriend. After lunch, Caleb and I went for a walk at our favorite park and I could tell he was getting nervous. At one section in the park, the trees' canopy forms a walk way that I have always admired. While we walked through the canopy, I noticed a small section of the woods where a blanket, flowers, and wooden tee-pee were set up. We walked over and well yeah you know how it ends! One of the best parts, was Caleb had all of our families and closets friends gather afterwards for a celebration!
