God placed Jameel and I around each other our entire lives, even when we didn't realize it. We both attended the same elementary school in Dallas but didn't get to know each other until we made it to intermediate school in Cedar Hill. We continued to go to school together all the way through college and would speak whenever we saw each other in passing. After we both graduated from the University of North Texas, God allowed our paths to cross yet again. One Saturday in March 2018, I hung out with a group of friends and posted a picture of myself on Facebook. Jameel liked what he saw in the picture and left the "emoji eyes" as a comment in my picture. I liked his comment and a few hours later, Jameel reached out to me in my DM's and we reconnected. We went on our first date one week later. I remember the laughs we shared, the things we talked about and that Jameel was a gentleman the entire evening. After that first date, I knew that Jameel was a special man and we've been inseparable ever since!!
Our first date was actually funny when you think about it. We started out at Cidercade to play a few arcade games and me not knowing her full background, I didn't know she had the ability to beat me in every game we played. After taking a few losses we sat, talked and decided to extend our date to the bridge in the Trinity Groves area. It didn't take me long to realize that I wanted to continue to date Mar'Shae and apparently she thought the same about me. Fast-forward over a year later, with months of planning, I set up the perfect recreation of our first date (without getting beat as many times). I asked both of our families and friends to be apart of the big day by passing out post cards with pictures of our "first time" moments and a rose. Although they had to battle a little rain, like troopers they stayed and made the day that much more special. I got down on one knee, asked if she would marry me and in great fashion she said "Of Course!!."
