The Engagement

February 14, 2018 | Happily Ever After!

We had just gone to look at engagement rings on Saturday before we would leave for our trip to Walt Disney World with Megan's family during Valentine's Day week. Little did Megan know that Sean had already talked to the manager at the jewelry store a week prior and had arranged for a fake ring to be made so that he could take a ring on their trip. Tuesday comes around, and Megan and Sean had the entire day to themselves in Magic Kingdom park, and it just happened to be Valentine's Day as well. Sean had booked a dessert party complete with sparkling cider and fun desserts shaped like Mickey and Minnie and other various things. After the dessert party, everyone was ushered to a special area that was in front of Cinderella's Castle without any trees obstructing the view. The whole day, Sean had to be sneaky and keep the ring in his pocket away from Megan, which wasn't easy because it was in a bright orange plastic container that the jewelry store had given him to keep it safe. Each time they had to go through security if they left the park to go eat or whatever, Sean had to ask Megan to go in front of him so she wouldn't see the orange container. So it gets darker, and everything seems normal, we're just waiting for the show to begin on the castle. Finally the music starts playing and a story is told with characters on the castle, and then the fireworks and the main show begin. Sean asks Megan if she wants to take a selfie with the fireworks and the lights behind them, and Sean pulls out the ring and holds it up with the intention of it showing up in the picture but it was too dark and hard to see. So he turns to Megan and taps her on the shoulder and asks her to marry him and she says yes! Megan was completely caught off guard because she knows we just went and looked at rings 4 days ago. Sean explains the ring is fake and she will get it when we get home. The rest is history and we can't wait to celebrate with all of our friends and family, near and far!
