Travel Note
The best way to reach Martha’s Vineyard is by ferry. During October, ferries operate only to Vineyard Haven, not Oak Bluffs, so please plan accordingly. If you’re bringing a car, make sure to book your ferry tickets well in advance as space is limited. Once on the island, Ubers and taxis are easily accessible and can take you to your hotel, Airbnb, or other destinations without needing a car. There are also a number of car rental options located by the ferry. For those staying at the Winnetu, complimentary shuttles will be available as well.

If you prefer to drive your own car, you’ll need a vehicle reservation on the Steamship Authority ferry from Woods Hole, MA to Vineyard Haven. •Reservations open February 3, 2026, at 8 a.m. for travel between May 14 and October 22, 2026. •Spots sell out quickly — we recommend booking as soon as reservations open. •Cars must check in 45 minutes before departure. •Book directly at www.steamshipauthority.com Tip: Many guests choose to walk onto the ferry and rent a car once they arrive. If you’re staying at The Winnetu, complimentary shuttles are available to and from the ferry and into Edgartown. Taxis and Ubers are also easy to find, so don’t worry if you decide to skip bringing a car — plenty of guests will do the same!
Rental Car
Renting a car once you arrive is an easy way to get around without worrying about ferry logistics. Key Details: •Pick-up locations: Car rentals are available in both Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs, right near the ferry terminals. •Book early: October is quieter than peak summer but weekends can still sell out — reserve a few weeks in advance. •Return flexibility: Many agencies allow drop-off at either terminal if your arrival and departure ports differ. •Parking: The venue offers free parking for guests.
Flight
If you’re flying in, the main airport is West Tisbury Airport (MVY), located in the heart of the island. From the airport, you can take shuttles, taxis, or rent a car to reach your accommodation. West Tisbury Airport offers convenient access to all parts of Martha’s Vineyard, ensuring a smooth start to your visit.

Our reception will be held at the Winnetu Oceanside Resort. We’ve reserved a block of 10 rooms with a 2-night minimum stay. Since the wedding falls on a holiday weekend, when many island hotels and Airbnbs require a 3-night minimum, we recommend booking early to secure your accommodations and avoid difficulty. Guests receive a 10% discount on rooms in our block by calling the Winnetu reservations office directly at 508-310-1733 and mentioning the “Dupre McGavick Wedding.”
