Yes, the dress code is Black Tie Optional. While tuxedos and evening gowns are preferred to maintain an elegant atmosphere, they are not required.
The island is accessible by ferry (from Woods Hole, Hyannis, New Bedford, or Rhode Island) and by plane. Ferries can sell out during holiday weekends, so advance booking is important.
The ceremony will take place indoors at the Old Whaling Church. The cocktail hour will be held on the deck at the Winnetu, with tent covering and heaters provided as needed — offering both indoor and outdoor space. Dinner will be hosted in a tent on the Winnetu lawn, followed by dancing indoors to close out the evening. All areas will be fully covered in the event of rain.
Shuttles will be provided from both the Winnetu Oceanside Resort and the Mansion House Inn to the Old Whaling Church for the ceremony. After the ceremony, shuttles will bring guests to the Winnetu for the reception. Detailed shuttle schedules and pick-up points will be shared closer to the event date. We are in the process of adding more shuttle pick up locations.
Parking is very limited at the Old Whaling Church. We strongly encourage guests to use the provided shuttles. If you plan to drive, please allow extra time to find parking nearby.
Unfortunately, no children are allowed at our wedding events. We kindly request that all guests make arrangements for child care.
Your invitation will specify if you have a plus one. Otherwise, this event is by invitation only, and additional guests are not permitted. Please refer to your invitation for details.
We have secured hotel blocks at the Winnetu Oceanside Resort and the Mansion House Inn. Additionally, Airbnb options are available throughout Martha's Vineyard. Please note that October is a popular time on the island, and many hotels and Airbnbs require a 3-night minimum stay. However, our hotel blocks offer a 2-night minimum, but rooms are limited, so we recommend booking early to secure your accommodations. We are in the process of booking more hotel blocks. Additional hotel recommendations include the Harborside Inn, Summer Camp, the Island Inn, and the HarborView Hotel.
When you RSVP, please indicate any dietary restrictions or preferences you may have. Our catering team will ensure that there are suitable options available for you during dinner.
October weather on Martha's Vineyard can be variable, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-50s to high 60s°F. It's a good idea to bring layers to stay comfortable throughout the day and evening. An umbrella or raincoat may also be useful in case of unexpected showers. Note we will have heaters at our cocktail hour and all areas are fully covered in the event of rain.
