Cash (Philippine peso) is king in the Philippines, especially in El Nido. However, many establishments accept card as well. Not all foreign credit cards are accepted and not all ATMs will let you use your foreign cards to take out cash. For example, we have experienced issues with our Revolut cards at ATMs in El Nido. We recommend you bring some cash with you before coming to the Philippines.
With regards to Manila and El Nido, there are no major infectious diseases or bugs to be concerned about. However, there are sand flies on some of the beaches so we recommend bringing either coconut oil or bug spray (preferably one that has DEET for extra protection) to avoid bites. Additionally, do not drink the tap water. Always drink bottled water.
April is one of the hottest and driest months of the year in the Philippines. Expect plenty of sunshine. That being said, please remember to hydrate, drink plenty of water, and don't forget your sunscreen!
We recommend anywhere in Lio Beach, Nacpan beach, or the main El Nido town as those are the most likely shuttle pickup points to get to the wedding. Please note, staying outside of those areas will make it difficult to get to the wedding without a shuttle service.
No worries! We will be arranging for shuttle services to the wedding at Angkla Hotel. However, guests will be responsible for their transportation home. This is why we advise you all to stay in these two locations! If you stay in Nacpan beach you can just walk to the venue :)
We recommend that you plan to arrive in El Nido by April 15th just incase you experience any delays going to the Philippines.
We are looking into an island hopping tour with everyone 2 days after the wedding on April 19th. That being said, we recommend departing from El Nido on April 20th. However, we understand if you have other plans or want to explore other islands around the Philippines after our wedding! :)
We say "linen vibes" but this doesn't mean you actually have to wear linen. Just think semi-formal beachy breezy wedding attire.
Good question! So the ceremony and dining tables will be on the sandy beach. While the dance floor will be on a proper hard floor. That being said, we recommend a pair of shoes that can easily slip on ad slip off. Ladies- heels may not be the best option considering the sand :P
We recommend either Smart or Globe SIM cards. You should be able to purchase these in the airport when you arrive in the Philippines.
