Things To Do

If you are able to extend your trip, there is so much to do in our corner of the Pacific Northwest. August brings beautiful, sunny weather. We've listed a few must-see spots, both in the Seattle area and on the Olympic Peninsula, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. Contact Matthew Morrison at (206) 399-4026 or matt@pnwer.org for the rest of the iceberg. He's a global tour guide extraordinaire!

Pike Place Market

Seattle, WA

Walk through the original public market in downtown Seattle near the waterfront. Check out the first Starbucks, and watch out for the flying fish!

Mount Rainier National Park

WA
(360) 569-2211

Mt. Rainier is the most special icon in Washington. It is where we got engaged! Whether you're looking for a hike or an epic place to picnic, Mt. Rainier National Park is the place to be! Well worth a day trip, or a few days if you want to explore.

Dungeness Spit

WA 98382

Dungeness Spit is the largest natural spit in the entire world! It stretches 5 miles out from the coastline. Enjoy the trails and ocean views.

Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center

3002 Mount Angeles Road, Port Angeles, WA 98362
, (360) 565-3130

Hurricane Ridge is less than an hour's drive from Port Angeles. It is the most accessible view of the Olympic Mountain Range in the Olympic National Park. Sneak in a breathtaking view by car or on foot. You won't regret it. There is also a wonderful visitor's center there.

Hoh Rain Forest Visitor Center

18113 Upper Hoh Road, Forks, WA 98331
, (360) 374-6925

Visit the Hoh Rainforest - yes, a real rainforest! Drive or take a walk on the many trails through the mossy wonderland and feast your eyes on ferns galore. The Hoh rainforest is 2.5 hours drive West from Port Angeles in the heart of the Olympic National Park.

First Beach, Rialto Beach, La Push, Second Beach, Third Beach, Forks

WA

The Washington coast is full of rocky beaches, giant drift logs, pounding waves and views of offshore islands known as 'seastacks.' There is endless adventuring to be had along these beaches and forests.

Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort

12076 Sol Duc-Hot Springs Road, Port Angeles, WA 98363
, (888) 896-3818

Just past the pristine Lake Crescent on the Olympic Peninsula is Sol Duc Hot Springs, approximately 1.5 hours West of Port Angeles. Relax in one of the classic European style, natural hot spring pools, or stay the night in one of the rustic cabins on site.

Ballard

Seattle, WA

If Breweries are your thing, Ballard is known as the brewery district here in Seattle. If you like a good farmers' market, they are open year-round from 10-2pm on Sundays (also our first date). There are tons of restaurants and shops along the cobblestone street.

Victoria

Victoria, BC, Canada

There is so much to do in Victoria, BC! It is one of our favorite cities. If the border is open to non-essential travel, you can walk on the ferry from Port Angeles for the 90 minute ride to Victoria. The ferry brings you right in the center of the city, so there is no need for a car. Enjoy high tea at the Empress or one of the many tea houses in town, or spend an afternoon admiring Butchart Gardens.

For all the days along the way
