Pittsburgh is home to a whole host of fabulous museums, and one of the most dynamic is The Warhol, located right across the Andy Warhol Bridge from downtown. The museum offers seven floors of exhibitions, a café, and giant gift shop.
This is Gayle's coffee shop, located in the Northside of Pittsburgh, just down the hill from Gayle & Sean's house. Since Gayle is lucky enough to call her coworkers her close friends, the shop will be closing early Saturday 10/22 and will be closed all day Sunday 10/23 for the wedding and post-wedding recovery, but if you're in town Friday or Saturday morning, please stop by for coffee and a pastry!
The Pittsburgh Pirates may be seriously hit-or-miss (mostly miss), but PNC Park is unquestionably one of the most beautiful ballparks in the country. The Pirates will likely not still be playing in late October (see above, re: hit-or-missingness), but you can still walk around the park and the surrounding area, which has beautiful views of the city and lots of fountains, statues, and trails.
Birds! Birds! Birds! We love birds, and are fortunate enough to live very close to the wonderful National Aviary, home to over 500 birds from over 150 species. The Aviary is located inside West Park, which features a small lake, winding walkways, and dozens of beautiful gingko trees that will be on the brink of turning a vivid orange-yellow by late October. Sean and Gayle have been taking Sadie and Lucy to The Aviary and West Park for years, and every fall (when it's just the two of them) they like to visit the park at the peak of leaf season and watch the trains go by on the gingko-lined tracks at golden hour.
This downtown-adjacent section of Pittsburgh is home to several restaurants, coffee shops, street vendors, and international food markets, and is always a fun place to explore on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Gayle & Sean's reception venue, Slate, is also at the tail end of the Strip.
