Depending on who you ask, you may get a different answer. Brooke and Sean met while swiping along on Tinder just a couple months before Brooke was set to leave for London. After a month or so of messages, Brooke gave in to Sean’s persistence and met up for our first date. What was meant to be a quick puppy walk in the park, turned into a wonderful four-hour date that was only cut “short” by the puppy needing to go home to sleep.
Originally, Sean was set to ask Brooke after dinner at the bar where Brooke and Sean had their first real date. But Brooke took too long getting ready and messed that attempt up. They missed their window with their photographer and Sean had to play it off the rest of the night and make a new plan. (...Because she didn't know it was coming) The backup plan... Brooke’s parents were engaged and married on the Sanibel island 30 years ago and every year they go back to their favorite beach destination to celebrate their anniversary. After about a year of dating, Sean was invited to spend a long weekend visiting the island with Brooke’s family to go shelling, rescue some kitties and watch Brooke get comically sunburnt. Several years later, and several trips to Sanibel later, Sean knew that proposing in Sanibel was the perfect spot. On our way to dinner at the Old Captiva House, we stopped to walk along the beach before our reservation. Sean pretended to be frightened by the nearby flock of birds so that we could turn around and go the other way. In reality, we needed to turn around to head towards the photographer. Once we were close enough and the moment seemed right, Sean got down on one knee and popped the question.
