Wakulla Springs is the world's largest and deepest fresh water spring, surrounded by an ancient cypress forest. The state park runs daily boat tours where you can get up close and personal with the area's wildlife, namely, the infamous Florida alligator. It's a beautiful place and a slice of disappearing Florida. There's also a swimming area where you can high dive into the deep spring. August in Florida is hot but the spring water is a constant 70 degrees.
