Sean and Annie like to say they had known of each other for a long time before they finally met. For years, they moved in the same Baltimore circles. They shared many mutual friends and often found themselves at the same shows, parties, and gatherings, always crossing paths but never at the exact right moment. Eventually, they joined the same small group of friends who rock climbed together. Between afternoons at the bouldering gym and casual hangouts after, something started to click. Before long, they were spending time together outside of climbing, going on hikes, trying new restaurants, and seeing Wye Oak play at 2640 Space. On March 14, 2020, over Italian food, Sean asked Annie to be his girlfriend. Two days later, the world shut down, and their story truly began. They spent the early months of lockdown side by side, doing puzzles, perfecting their pizza recipes, taking Luna on long neighborhood walks, and falling deeply in love. With help from Sean’s sister Carly, they planted a garden at their first home. Watching the flowers and vegetables grow each summer became a treasured ritual. Those months of unexpected stillness remain some of their favorite memories.
When live music returned and Sean began touring full time again, they found a new rhythm. Annie switched to a fully remote role so they could spend as much time together as his schedule allowed. Over the years, they have explored new cities like Mexico City, Porto, and Lisbon, and Annie has introduced Sean to a few of her longtime favorites, including London, Amsterdam, and Negril. Annie has had the joy of watching Sean perform at iconic venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Red Rocks, the Greek Theater, and Merriweather Post Pavilion, and missed him for weeks or months at a time while he toured across Europe and Australia. During this time, Annie continued traveling for yoga retreats in remote and beautiful places, including Amorgos in Greece and Holbox in Mexico. In September, Sean joined her for his first retreat in Sardinia, and they are already counting down the days until their next one in Dominica.
With Sean’s touring schedule, planning vacations can be nearly impossible. Since traveling is such an important part of their lives, Sean and Annie began making a tradition of taking a trip every Christmas, when shows pause for the holidays. In 2023, they chose Hawaii for its snorkeling, sunshine, and abundance of poke. On December 29, 2023, after a day of spotting sea turtles on black sand beaches and hiking through Volcanoes National Park, Sean proposed. As they returned to their Airbnb, he got down on one knee beside an outdoor tub heated by volcanic hot springs and asked Annie to marry him. The ring he designed included diamonds from both of her grandmothers, which made the moment even more meaningful. It was the easiest yes she had ever said.
Through every season, some things have remained constant. They love spending time with their friends, exploring local cuisine wherever they are, seeing live music, binge-watching thriller series, and planning their next adventure. What began with chance encounters and small moments has become a shared life they feel incredibly grateful for. They are looking forward to celebrating with you in the future as they make their Baltimore home a place to welcome guests and make new memories.
