We got married

Sean Mercer

and

Our wedding

We were married on a Wednesday

When we imagined getting married, we wanted it to happen somewhere meaningful. We had just bought our new home in Baltimore in November 2024, and it already felt like the start of a new chapter. We hope to spend many years here, so exchanging vows in this space with the people closest to us felt perfect. On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, we were joined by our parents and Sean’s sister, Carly, who officiated. The weather was perfect. The haphazard Home Depot runs that morning had somehow transformed our back patio into a lush garden wedding venue. Carly's innate sense of humor, love of language, and deep knowledge of both Annie and Sean (she attended both the bachelorette and bachelor parties, truly an MVP), made the ceremony so personal and perfectly suited to this backyard wedding. Not to be outdone, Luna performed her duties as both flower girl and ring bearer with the enthusiasm and gusto of a very good girl. After a champagne toast and a celebratory wish paper lighting, we shared our first dance in the living room — where Sean surprised Annie with a cover of “Best Guess” by Lucy Dacus. Then we strolled around the neighborhood on our Luna-walking route, taking photos among old trees and the community garden that has become part of our daily rhythm. A few months later, we continued celebrating our marriage in a way that highlighted our shared love of travel. As two Italians who had never been to Italy, we chose Ravello, known as the balcony of the Amalfi coast. We planned a wedding photoshoot that took us through the villas of Ravello, winding streets of Amalfi, eventually making our way by boat to a Positano sunset. It was an adventure we’ll never forget. Our life together has never been traditional, and we wanted our marriage to reflect that, a blend of intimate comfort at home and exciting new experiences out in the world. We’re so grateful to have found each other, and so lucky to build this life side by side.
