Flight
If you will be arriving by plane we would suggest flying into Newark Airport (70 miles from Cedar Lakes). Once you land you can rent a car and drive or arrange for public transportation via train or car/taxi service.
Train
You can take the NJ Transit from Penn Station (with a transfer in Secaucus) to the Middletown, NY stop and from there Cedar Lakes is a 20/25 minute ride away! Uber and Lyft are relatively reliable in the area so we would suggest going that route. But just in case, here are a few local Middletown cab numbers: Middletown Taxi: (845) 343-7777 or (845) 343-3333
Rental Car
Cedar Lakes is less than a 2 hour drive from Manhattan. There will be plenty of parking available throughout the entire weekend if you plan on driving or renting a car. If you wish to take an Uber or Lyft from the city it would be anywhere from $200-$300 depending on time of day, etc. If not traveling from Manhattan we recommend using Google Maps or Waze to show you the way!
Travel Note
Uber and Lyft are existent but somewhat unreliable in the area, so we suggest arranging for a taxi in advance for all of your getting around needs! Below please find a few options for local cab companies below. We recommend calling them at least half an hour in advance of when you would like to be picked up. JL Dispatching Taxi Service: (845) 856-3544 Milford Tri-state Taxi: (845) 856-8294 D A D S Taxi and Limo: (973) 579-4807 Black Bear Car Service: (570) 491-2327 Port Jervis Taxi: (845) 856-9191
Travel Note
We fell in love with Cedar Lakes pretty much the moment we set foot on the property and one of the reasons we are so excited about getting married here is to be able to utilize all that it has to offer! We hope you will join for a float in the lake (an ode to the Bisset Creek Floats) a ride down the zip-line, kickball, softball, basketball, tennis and lawn games.
Travel Note
If you're feeling adventurous head to Highpoint State Park which is just a few miles from Cedar Lakes and offers hiking, mountain biking trails, swimming, fishing and beautiful views from Highpoint Monument!
Travel Note
We first came upon this brewery back in 2017 during the Bisset Family Hike at nearby Harriman Outdoor Center (a rainy day took us off the mountain and into a brewery instead). It is located about an hour away from Cedar Lakes but arguably worth the trip for their NE IPA, the Wrench, which is an all time favorite. (They recently opened another location in Beacon, NY which is a slightly shorter drive).
Travel Note
With its first commercial vintage produced in 1839, it is commonly acknowledged to be the oldest operating winery in the United States. In 2000 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The winery's slogan is "America's Oldest Winery". Go, get a T shirt and sip on some old wine! 40 minutes from Cedar Lakes.
