Johnny always tells people "we met on the computer". Somehow cutting through a clutter of suitors on OkCupid, John's messages got to Sara while she was on vacation in Portugal and they made plans to meet up when she got back. Sara appreciated a detail in Johnny's profile that said he was "good at thank you notes". It just so happened that their first meeting was outside of a casket factory in South Brooklyn in September 2015. Johnny was amused by this detail, but moved on to a nearby bar, "Swan Dive", overlooking the toxic Gowanus Canal that snakes through the neighborhood. Even though Johnny was a little worried about his seemingly bad choices of locational metaphors, they proceeded to have a great time! Two days later they were hanging out again, taking a late-summer beach trip to Coney Island. Before long, they were inseparable. They spent that Halloween together in Portland, Maine and realized they are excellent travel partners. That Thanksgiving, Johnny met Sara's parents, Graeme and Anna, and Sara met Johnny's parents, John and Susan. Eventually the parents met the parents, and everyone clicked! S & J fell in love as they shared their passion for music, the outdoors, food, and drink. Johnny was struck not only by Sara's beauty, but also her supportive nature, generosity and thoughtfulness. Sara loves the spontaneity in Johnny's personality, and the warmth, fun, and humor he provides on a daily basis. (Also a Lyft driver recently said he looks like Pierce Brosnan, so that was probably a factor. Better that than one of the Property Brothers, who Sara insists are creepy.) After dating for close to three years, they decided to pick up stakes and move to sunny California with their cat, Chicken. Several months later Johnny proposed to Sara in Palm Springs at the top of a snow-covered Mt. San Jacinto, and she said "yes"! They are thrilled to celebrate their wedding with you all in November!
