Beautiful hike on the north side of the island! Moderate in difficulty - about 0.75 mile down to the beach. Beautiful beach to explore and can even extend the hike up the other side of the beach for more cliff views beyond the valley
Longer drive to the Hilo side of the island but a waterfall that is worth the trip! More of a guided walking path through a rainforest type park with a view of the waterfall at the end. 0.4 mile walking loop.
The Big Island of Hawaii, specifically Kona, is known for its coffee. Kona Joe is a traditional Kona coffee plantation on the side of the volcano overlooking the ocean. Tour their coffee farm and you can roast your own coffee to package and take home with you. There are multiple other Kona coffee plantations worth visiting, but we had a great experience at this one.
The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park contains two of the world's most active volcanoes - Kilauea and Mauna Loa. It's also a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and International Biosphere Reserve. There is so much to explore in the park from eruption viewing, to various hikes and walks, crater rim views, and more.
