Things To Do

We know many of you are traveling from out of town, and may want to make the most of your stay in the beautiful state of Michigan. Michigan is a hidden gem with many things to do ranging from outdoor activities to city exploration. The Great Lakes and surrounding shore lines have so much to offer - even some of the best scuba diving in the world is here! Here's a few recommendations we have if you want to extend your trip and see all the beauty Michigan has to offer! If you're extending your trip reach out to us and let us know where you are thinking - we can direct you to some great resources!

Detroit Riverwalk & Belle Isle Park (Downtown Detroit – 40 min)

For urban explorers, the revitalized Detroit Riverwalk has been ranked among the best in the U.S. Pair it with a visit to Belle Isle, a lush island park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, featuring a conservatory, aquarium, and skyline views.

Detroit Institute of Arts

5200 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48202

The DIA houses one of the best art collections in the country — including Diego Rivera’s Detroit Industry Murals. After the museum, your guests can walk around Midtown, grab brunch at Selden Standard or Jolly Pumpkin, and feel the city’s creative pulse.

Franklin Cider Mill

7450 Franklin Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48301

An iconic Michigan cider mill experience with fresh-pressed cider, warm donuts, and a creekside setting.

Day Trip to Lake Michigan: Holland or South Haven (2–2.5 hours)

Holland, MI

Experience Michigan’s freshwater coast — charming beach towns with sandy shores, lighthouses, and walkable downtowns. Holland has a quaint Dutch vibe, a stunning beach, and Windmill Island Gardens. South Haven offers beachside wine bars, pier sunsets, and a relaxed lakeside atmosphere.

Ann Arbor: Food, Culture & Vibes (1 hour)

Ann Arbor, MI

Home to the University of Michigan, but we don’t hold that against them. Ann Arbor is a cultural and culinary gem. Stroll Main Street, eat at Frita Batidos or Zingerman’s Deli, or catch live music. Visit the Matthaei Botanical Gardens or the U-M Museum of Art.

Frankenmuth – “Michigan’s Little Bavaria” (1.5 hours)

Frankenmuth

A fairytale-like German village with biergartens, chicken dinners, and horse-drawn carriages. Don’t miss Zehnder’s or Bavarian Inn, and stop by Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland (open year-round). - Stroll the covered bridge or take a paddlewheel boat ride on the Cass River.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (4 hours – worth the early start!)

Empire, MI

One of the most stunning places in America— massive sand dunes, crystal-clear Lake Michigan waters, and scenic drives. Hike the Dune Climb, take in Pierce Stocking Drive, or kayak Glen Lake.

Traverse City Wine Country (4.5 hours)

Traverse City

Perfect for wine lovers or those turning the trip into a mini-vacation. Sip Rieslings along the Old Mission Peninsula, relax on the water, and enjoy farm-to-table dining. It’s Napa vibes with a northern Michigan twist.

Mackinac Island (5–6 hours or 1-hour flight from DTW to Pellston + ferry)

Mackinac Island, MI

No cars. Just bikes, horses, and fudge. A true step back in time and Michigan’s most iconic island destination. Visit Grand Hotel, ride a tandem bike around the island, or relax with lake views and a cocktail. If you want something unforgettable, this is it.
