Our Story

This is the story of a girl (Rachael) who met a scuba diving, tree hugging capitalist (Michael) on Hinge. He asked her out and they met at a little wine bar called Endswell in Brooklyn NY. Michael was 15 minutes early, and in usual Rachael fashion she was 3 minutes “late”. Michael wore a baby blue sweater, and Rachael wore a black off the shoulder sweater. Rachael was drawn immediately to Michael’s amazing smile, and Michael was enamored by Rachael’s grace and beauty. When the waiter came, Michael and Rachael ordered a charcuterie board and 2 sprites. To Michael and Rachael’s surprise the charcuterie board came with only meat and NO cheese! Despite the lack of cheese Rachael and Michael’s conversation flowed effortlessly, and they practically stayed at the restaurant until close. After this memorable first date the two continued talking, but after 2 weeks of talking decided to go separate ways. This is the story of a boy who finally came to his senses 3 weeks later and went back to the girl. This time Rachael picked the restaurant, and the two ended up at a restaurant called “Raclette” (a type of swiss cheese) where they finally got their cheese. From there they built a coral reef fish tank, attended 10+ weddings, went on scuba trips all over the world, moved in together, welcomed a puppy into their lives, bought a scuba business, started a new chapter in Grand Rapids Michigan, and fell madly in love. This is just the beginning of their story, and Rachael and Michael are thrilled that you will be part of this next chapter of their lives! It just goes to show, “All’s well Endswell”!

Diving Into Forever

1.31.24

Ask any diver, and they all can tell you stories about their "perfect dive". A dive where you see lots of underwater creatures, swim past vibrant corals, and scream for joy in your regulator at the sight of the ocean world in front of you. Michael and Rachael's just happened to be the day that Michael planned to propose. It was on a dive trip to Bonaire, Rachael had just resigned from IBM, and the two were excited for some relaxation, and scoping out future dive destinations for ADZ. The morning of the proposal, they went on 2 dives. The first was called Salt Pier and as Rachael describes "it was like swimming in a mermaids fortress". There were vibrant corals EVERYWHERE lining the poles of the pier. Michael motioned for Rachael to swim over to a rock at the bottom, and as Rachael approached she saw a small blue tenticle - it was a baby octopus! Rachael's first octopus. The day continued with the next dive near a shipwreck. As Michael and Rachael approached the shipwreck, out from the murky depths came a HUGE bright green moray eel. The muscular eel swam alongside the shipwreck and disappeared into the abyss. Both dives Michael and Rachael were screaming with excitement in their regulators. As if the day could get any better, Michael arranged for a private dinner on the pier at their resort. Michael and Rachael got dressed up to go out to dinner, and Michael guided Rachael to the pier where there was a table, two chairs, and some beautiful local flowers at the edge. Rachael looked at Michael and asked "is this for us?" and Michael walked her down the aisle of the pier where he got down on one knee and asked Rachael to marry him. The two enjoyed a 3 course meal at the edge of the pier, with the sunset in the distance. Their faces gleaming, and glowing from the suns reflection and pure happiness. A perfect dive and a perfect day.
