Scott and Renee have a shared love for beach volleyball, so while they were playing some fun games in Huntington Beach on a Saturday in the summer of 2019, Scott approached Renee to introduce himself. They hit it off and talked for a while, eventually exchanging numbers and becoming good friends. After a few months of Scott asking her out and Renee saying he was too young for her, she finally wrote THE LIST...

On a plane back from New York City, Renee sat next to a happy, loving, extremely friendly couple. They seemed like they had it all figured out so she decided to ask them their secret. In what ended up being a lively 6 hour conversation, she learned about THE LIST. She was told to write down everything she could possibly want in a partner. Nothing was off-limits, and "Be Specific! If you want frosted blonde tips at the end of auburn hair, write it!" So she got home, and she wrote the list. It was long, it seemed ridiculous to request so much. Someone who is smart, handsome, tall, plays volleyball, cooks, makes me laugh, etc. etc. AND has an amazing mom? No way. So there she was writing the list and checking it twice. As she's reading over the part of "handy. knows how to fix things and is willing to teach me" Scott sends a text: "Hey, did you ever get the tail light fixed on your car? If you bring it tonight I can help you or show you how to do it". She reads the text, she reads the list, she reads the list again and HE CHECKS EVERY BOX.

Scott had been trying to get a group of friends together for a while to try salsa dancing. Once Renee realized the implications of THE LIST she asked if he would want to go salsa dancing. Scott asked if it would just be the two of them. She stared at her phone for a minute, knowing that how she answered that question would change her life. She said yes, and the rest is history :)
