The shortest answer: through friends. The salacious one-liner: he dated my roommate, Shannon. Both are somewhat true, but the full story is far more special than can be summed up in a few sentences. Here's what really happened: Scott was frustrated by dating in Houston, and about to throw in the towel on finding his perfect match. Jocelyn's TriBeCa roommate, Shannon, was at no shortage of suitors in Manhattan, but found a reason (or five) why any given guy wasn't right for her. Jocelyn was an innocent (and lucky) bystander in it all! A mutual friend of Scott and Shannon's thought that despite the distance (1,600 miles!), they may be a match (thank you, Denise!). A few texts and phone calls later, Scott decided to see what may come, and was on a flight to NYC with a fun weekend lined up to share with Shannon. While she had ten+ great things to say about their Friday night date, he "wasn't for her," and she suggested that maybe Jocelyn was in fact a great fit. Famous last words: "I'm not saying you have to marry the guy!" A little convincing later, Jocelyn decided to YOLO her way to SoHo to meet this mystery man. From the moment they hopped in an Uber uptown, sparks flew. A night filled with laughter, dancing and Champagne quickly became the best - and last - first date. We had a wildly fun and fast-paced romance between Manhattan and Houston for nine months before we set off to France and Greece to celebrate the wedding between good friends, Layla & Zubin. Near the end of our trip and after an incredible Santorini sunset, Scott got down on one knee and proposed marriage. We are beyond thankful that fate (and Shannon) brought us together, and we can hardly contain our excitement for our future. PSA: Shannon is single and a real catch! Look for her on the dance floor!
Shannon made the first move, really! Without her, we would never have crossed paths. A more literal answer: Scott did! Jocelyn: I felt the chemistry from the moment we first hugged, but didn't expect much more than a fun night out with a new friend. It wasn't until Scott showed off his "Ricky Martin hips" on the dance floor and went in for a smooch that I knew he felt it, too.
We are headed to South Africa! We'll enjoy a Safari in Kruger National Park, Victoria Falls, the Winelands near Cape Town, the beaches of Benguerra Island, and more! Scott's dying to cage-dive with Great White Sharks in Gansbaai (err, poor choice of words?) and Jocelyn's up for the adventure, so long as they both make it out alive!
Jocelyn is the self-proclaimed 'House Manager,' but that often means delegating things like this to her trusty assistant, Scott.
We're so fortunate to travel often, however it doesn't get much better than our time in Santorini. We relaxed under the sun, ate all the Greek salad we could get our hands on (hold the olives!), and took our relationship to the next level as an engaged couple! Our wedding in Cabo, with all of you there alongside us, will definitely rival it.
