Scott and I met on Bumble.com. After two great days of texting about cars and animals (Scott questioning his decision to talk to a Subaru owner and me cancelling another date to go out with Scott), we had our first date on 12.29.17. It was horrible. The restaurant wasn't that great; it was a blizzard outside; we were both super nervous; and I left feeling so bummed. Two days later on New Year's Eve 2017, Scott texted asking me to give him another shot, everyone can be a little shy on first dates, and he would appreciate any feedback and criticism. How could I resist such honesty?! We spent the rest of that week texting and chatting every moment that we had. Our second date was on 1.6.18 to Dave and Buster's and the rest is history :)
On the first night of our summer vacation, Scott informed me that we were taking a detour from our trip to Petosky to Mackinac Island. At first I was confused as to why he wouldn't let me sleep in on our first full day of vacation, but then became excited as to what that detour could mean! While riding our bikes around the perimeter of Mackinac Island, I stopped shortly before Arch Rock to pick a stone out of my tire. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Scott throw his bike down, scramble in his backpack, and then get down on one knee to ask me to marry him! My immediate response wasn't "Yes!", but instead I replied "But I'm wearing sweaty clothes!". To which Scott (in typical fashion) replied, "I know. I planned it that way". A few bicyclists passed us by as we were talking and taking pictures. A younger couple asked us if we were ok. I causally mentioned that Scott just proposed, to which the guy slammed on his brakes to congratulate us! He offered to take our first, non-selfie style photo as an engaged couple. Considering the height difference between us (6'9" and 5'7"), we aren't the greatest at talking selfies :)
