Bridalveil Fall
Easily accessible and just a short walk from the main road, this is the waterfall that Ansel Adams made famous in his shot of Yosemite Valley from Inspiration Point. Bridalveil Fall is one of Yosemite’s most iconic waterfalls, probably second only to its big sister, Yosemite Falls, except that Bridalveil Fall flows year-round.
Tunnel View
Tunnel View is a must-stop for any first-time visit to Yosemite Valley. Find it just outside the Wawona Tunnel on State Highway 41. No hiking is required, you simply park at one of the lots and make your way to the vista. This spot can be very popular so try to arrive early. From this vista you can see El Capitan, Half Dome, and Bridalveil Fall.
Swinging Bridge Picnic Area
Epic spot to cross the bridge (doesn't actually swing or move at all) and get a great view of Upper Yosemite Falls.
Glacier Point
Drive up to Glacier Point for epic views of the valley and take a hike if you're up for it!
El Capitan Meadow
On your way back out of the valley, the road passes right in front of the base of El Capitan at El Cap Straight, and there is a pull-out on the left side of the road so that you can stop and take a look from up close. This is also a great spot for stargazing! Bring your binoculars to spot the rock climbers on the granite wall.
The Ansel Adams Gallery
The Ansel Adams Gallery is open seven days per week, current hours are 10a – 4p. Located in the heart of Yosemite Valley, between the Visitor Center and Post Office.
The Ahwahnee Bar
Grab drinks at the bar and then check out The Great Lounge (which inspired the design for the Grand Californian Hotel in Disneyland) and the awesome historical design (used as templates for the interior shots in the classic film The Shining).
Day Hikes in Yosemite Valley
There are several options for sightseeing and hiking in the valley. You can see most waterfalls, epic rock faces, and peaks just by driving the valley loop. Take it all in with mostly flat and easy walks on Cook's Meadow Loop or Yosemite Valley Loop Trail or get a higher vantage point on
Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias
Leisurely walk through the giant sequoias or take a longer hike deeper into the forest!
Village Store
The Village Store has all the essentials you need or might have forgotten - including groceries, meat and produce, baked goods, camping supplies, books, magazines, postcards, ice and firewood. There's also an ATM in the store. Additionally, you'll find all the souvenirs, T-shirts, sweatshirts and hats you could ever want - perfect for gifts or commemorating your Yosemite experience. Located in eastern Yosemite Valley, in Yosemite Village, near Yosemite Village Parking. The Village Store is also located at shuttle stop 2 on the free Yosemite Valley shuttle route.
Mariposa
Downtown Mariposa has plenty of little shops and restaurants to keep you occupied for an afternoon outside of the park.
Rainbow Pool Swimming Hole
To the west of the park, great spot for a picnic and swimming.
