Glacier National Park
Glacier National Park is one of the many reasons why we fell in love with the Flathead Valley. Every time we go to the park it takes our breath away not only from the views but also the elevation. Going-to-the-Sun Road is one of the most famous 50 miles stretch of road in the country and is an absolute must see while you are visiting. Pack a lunch from Laurie's Deli in Columbia Falls, MT and enjoy the park for a full day of adventures.
Bison Range
Located about 2 hours away from Whitefish, MT is the national Bison Range in the South Missions Valley. The Bison Range is home to many of Montana's native species which include, antelope, deer, birds, bears, and of course a bison. The Bison Range is a self-directed driving tour with two scenic drives. The main drive is Red Sleep Drive, a 2 hour, 19 mile loop that goes up and over Red Sleep Mountain.
Stutzmans Country Market
Close to the Bison Range is one of our favorite spots in the South Mission Valley. Enjoy some homemade ice cream and made to order sandwiches in a quaint country store. Be sure to take a moment and enjoy the views that surround Stutzmans Country Market. The first hike we did in our new home is located just a couple miles away from the store.
Garnet Ghost Town
If you are flying into the Missoula Airport then we highly recommended visiting the most well maintained ghost town in Montana. Approximately 8 miles off the highway on a beautiful country road you will find Garnet Ghost Town tucked away on the side of a mountain. Here you will find a ton of hiking trails and historic buildings of what used to be a bustling city in the 1800s.
The Great Northwest Oktoberfest
Ryan and I have always enjoyed the famous Casselberry Oktoberfest when we lived in Florida. Once we moved out here we we're thrilled to continue that tradition in Whitefish, MT. During our wedding weekend the The Great Northwest Oktoberfest will be in full swing. Enjoy German food, drinks, music, and local shops at Depot Park in the heart of downtown Whitefish.
Kootenai Falls
Kootenai Falls is one of our favorite spots not only for the swinging bridge but stunning views of the falls. The Kootenai River, just below the falls, is home to some of Montana's trophy river trout.
