Take a scenic drive through one of the country's oldest wildlife refuges, where you may spot bison, elk, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, and more. Check the website for hours and other details.
Route of the Hiawatha Scenic Mtn Bike Trail
One of the most scenic rail-trails in the country, featuring historic tunnels, towering trestles, and incredible mountain views. Bike rentals are available nearby.
Flathead Lake
The largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi. Spend a day swimming, boating, kayaking, or exploring the charming lakeside towns. Lots of little shops, restaurants, breweries nearby!
Smokejumper Visitor Center
Discover the history of Montana's elite wildfire firefighters through exhibits, equipment, and guided tours. This unique attraction offers a glimpse into one of the state's most iconic professions.
Garnet Ghost Town
Step back in time at one of Montana’s best-preserved ghost towns, once a thriving 1800s mining community. Wander through historic cabins and scenic mountain surroundings for a glimpse of frontier life.
Wallace
Explore this charming historic mining town filled with local shops, breweries, and restaurants. Nestled in the mountains, Wallace is also the self-proclaimed “Center of the Universe” and makes for a fun and easy day trip.
Kootenai Falls
A beautiful and easy walk leads to one of Montana's largest waterfalls and an iconic swinging bridge suspended above the Kootenai River. This would be a pretty long day trip but totally worth it!
Glacier National Park
Known as the “Crown of the Continent,” Glacier features towering peaks, alpine lakes, and the iconic Going-to-the-Sun Road. This is one of our favorite places and incredibly special to us—if you’re able to extend your stay and explore deeper, it’s an experience that stays with you long after you leave. An America the Beautiful pass is required and can be purchased online or at the park. We’re happy to share itinerary recommendations if you plan to head that way!
