FAQs

The Wedding Website of McKenzie Spafford and Cody Schlegel
Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

To RSVP, simply enter your name into the box on the RSVP tab and follow the prompts. If you prefer, a paper RSVP card will be included with your invitation for you to mail back.

Question

What happens if I don’t RSVP on time?

Answer

If we don’t receive your RSVP by the deadline, you will be marked as “not attending.” As much as we’d love to celebrate with everyone, we must provide a final guest count to the resort and cannot accommodate late responses.

Question

Can I bring a date or my kids?

Answer

Due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate those formally listed on your invitation. – If your invite says “Your Name & Guest,” you’ve been given a plus one. – If your invite is addressed to “The [Last Name] Family,” your children are included. We’ve chosen to include only our nieces and nephews in the wedding. Thank you for understanding!

Question

Where should I fly into?

Answer

The closest and most convenient airport for the wedding festivities is Cancun International Airport. We recommend booking your flight into this airport, as it offers the easiest access to the resort and ensures a smooth start to your travel experience. From there, you’ll be just a short transfer away from celebrating with us in paradise.

Question

When should I arrive and depart?

Answer

We highly recommend taking advantage of the discounted room rates and turning your trip into a vacation! Our room block allows guests to stay up to five nights with our special pricing, but you’re more than welcome to extend your stay beyond the wedding and make it a full getaway. Our travel coordinator, Kylee, can assist you with booking within the room block and adding any additional days you wish. You’re welcome to arrive a few days early to relax and explore, but we kindly ask that all guests arrive at the resort no later than Thursday, October 8, 2026, by 4:00 PM for check-in. Our welcome party kicks off that evening, and we don’t want you to miss a moment of the fun!

Question

How do I book my travel and hotel?

Answer

While you’re welcome to book directly through the resort using our room block, we highly recommend contacting our amazing travel agent and wedding coordinator, Kylee Mitchell. She can assist with flights, hotel rooms, transportation, and even excursions. Kylee will also be able to help if anything goes wrong with your travel plans or if you’d like a room option not specifically listed within the block. It’s important to note that all guests must stay on-site at the resort to attend the wedding. Tip: To secure your room within our block and take advantage of the discounted rate, please make your first deposit by February 2026, your second by May 2026, and finalize your booking by June 2026.

Question

Is the resort all-inclusive?

Answer

Yes! The resort is fully all-inclusive; your per-person rate covers food, drinks, and standard resort amenities throughout your stay. Please note that some experiences are not included and may require an additional fee. These include spa treatments, premium dining experiences, tours and excursions, and private beach cabanas. If you’re interested in booking any of these extras, our travel agent Kylee can help you make arrangements in advance.

Question

Resort Guest Rules

Answer

Important: All wedding guests must stay at the resort to attend our events. The resort does not allow non-guests onto the property for wedding festivities, so be sure to book through our block.

Question

Do I need a passport?

Answer

Yes, a valid passport is required to travel to Mexico and celebrate with us. Be sure to check the expiration date on your passport—Mexico requires it to be valid at the time of entry. If you don’t have one yet or need to renew, we recommend starting the process as soon as possible.

Question

What’s the dress code for the weekend?

Answer

We’d love to see everyone dressed up and feeling their best throughout the weekend! See each event’s attire recommendations below. See the Guest Attire page for examples and outfit ideas of our themed welcome party or wedding guest inspiration.

Question

Guest Attire: Welcome Party

Answer

Theme: Toast on the Coast — we’d love to see everyone in blue! Choose any shade you feel best in. This event follows our Elevated Resort Wear dress code and will be held in the resort’s club-level venue. Men: Collared shirts and dress slacks are required by the venue. Guests attending the Rehearsal Dinner will head directly to the Welcome Party afterward. You’re welcome to come dressed for the Welcome Party if you prefer not to change.

Question

Guest Attire: Ceremony & Reception

Answer

Dress code: Western Cocktail Attire — think boots, hats, and elevated style. We encourage jewel-toned or bright colors. Cocktail attire includes midi or maxi dresses, jumpsuits, suits or sport coats, dress pants, and dress shoes.

Question

What is the resort’s dress code?

Answer

– Breakfast/Lunch: No swimwear in restaurants. Cover-ups are required for women, and shirts/tank tops for men. – Evenings: All restaurants enforce a semi-formal dress code. Semi-formal attire includes sundresses, skirts, blouses, jumpsuits, dressy tops, polos, button-downs, slacks, and closed-toe or dress shoes.

Question

What’s the weather typically like?

Answer

In early October, Cancun offers warm tropical weather with average daytime temperatures in the mid-80s°F (around 29°C) and slightly cooler evenings in the mid-70s°F (around 24°C). It’s usually sunny with a chance of brief afternoon showers, so packing light layers and a small umbrella or rain jacket is a good idea. Don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, and breathable clothing to stay comfortable during outdoor events!

Question

Is there a gift registry?

Answer

Your presence at our wedding truly means the world to us and is the greatest gift we could ask for. However, we know many of you love to give, so we’ve created a registry with a few meaningful items. Since we already share a home, most items are meant to add to our hobbies, upgrade something well-loved, or help us save for future adventures together. You can find our full registry linked right here on the website.

Question

Should I purchase travel insurance?

Answer

We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect against unexpected flight cancellations, weather delays, or medical emergencies. Kylee can assist you with exploring coverage options when booking your trip.

Question

Other Travel Tips

Answer

Currency: The resort accepts U.S. dollars, so there’s no need to exchange currency. Tipping: Gratuities are included, but small cash tips are always appreciated for exceptional service. Wi-Fi: Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort. We recommend downloading WhatsApp prior to travel, as it’s commonly used for communication in Mexico. Dining Reservations: Some resort restaurants require dinner reservations. The concierge can assist you upon arrival. Excursions: Interested in snorkeling, ziplining, or visiting cenotes? Kylee can help you book safe and reputable excursions. Packing Tips: Don’t forget sunscreen, bug spray, a reusable water bottle, and light layers for evenings. Pack wedding attire, medications, and travel documents in your carry-on.

Question

Before You Go

Answer

We can’t wait to celebrate with you in paradise! Here’s what to know before you travel. Travel & Booking: Book early to secure our discounted rates. Deposits are due in February and May 2026, with all rooms finalized by June. All guests must stay on-site to attend the wedding. If flying into another airport, like Tulum, coordinate transportation directly with Kylee. Note: It’s illegal to book an Uber from the Cancun airport, so please plan ahead. Look for signage for the Schlegel Wedding Group outside the terminal when you land. Travel Tips: A valid passport is required. We recommend travel insurance for peace of mind. The resort accepts U.S. dollars, and complimentary Wi-Fi is available. Download WhatsApp before travel—it’s commonly used in Mexico.
