Depending on which one of us you ask, the story may change a bit, with some comedic additions. The meeting was inevitable, Amanda; a sassy paramedic. Justin; an oblivious sheriffs deputy. It all started when they both ended up getting called to a possible overdose. He arrived first and she arrived shortly behind. They had crossed paths briefly in the past, but this was where the spark ignited. She called from the ambulance "I like your haircut." He thought nothing much of it, until she lingered for a little bit longer and shot a coy smile in his direction. She quickly left. Later, another call, a vehicle accident, when he used her own words on her. She was placing a patient in the back of the ambulance and he called out to her before she left " I like your hair." A perfect compliment for a woman. They spent the rest of the shift wondering, "what could this be." Days went by and neither of them had stopped thinking about the other. Another day in the life of a first responder and a cardiac arrest at local residence had brought them back together. A hospice patient that had passed on a warm October day. He had made a smart comment to her "you never invite us to anything fun." She knew this was her time! After some light detective work, some encouragement from her coworker, she had to make a move. An invitation was sent to spend time with her and her coworker watching horror movies at the fire station they were posted up at. The world got in the way and both Justin and Amanda spent the rest of the night responding to calls. But they knew that wasn't the end of them. A date, a shared meal, some beer, and a kiss. And now we're here! <3
