FAQs

Question

Why don't you have a registry?

Answer

We know that traveling to Puerto Rico to share this day with us is a huge commitment, physically, and financially. You are taking time away from your lives to celebrate with us and we could not be more honored. Your presence is present enough and having you there with us is more than we could have ever dreamed of.

Question

Is there an itinerary?

Answer

While we are still finalizing the details, we do hope to have some kind of welcome party on Thursday evening. Plan for some light snacks, maybe a bonfire, and a chance to say hello to everyone! We do not have anything planned for Saturday (day after the wedding). We assume there will be copious amounts of beverages had, food eaten, and fun left on the dance floor the evening prior. Like us, most people may want to just relax the next day. We will likely hang by the pool and beach and would love for anyone to join us! We are also exploring the idea of a group excursion on Sunday. We LOVE the islands of Vieques and Culebra! They are a short ferry or private boat ride away but well worth it. What do you all think? Would anyone be interested in something like that?

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Let's call it "beachy chic." Is that a style? The short answer is no, we do not have a dress code. You are attending a super fun, laid back wedding on an island. Don't wear pajamas (unless they have palm trees on them). Also, you may be featured in many photos so ask yourselves - how would you like to be remembered? 😉

Question

What if we don't want to stay at the Wyndham?

Answer

While we would love to celebrate with everyone, we understand that everyone has different preferences and budgets, and hey - maybe multiple days with us is just too much. We get it. We get tired of ourselves too! All of that said, there are LOTS of other hotels, and even more Airbnb options nearby. We typically always stay at Airbnb properties as there are so many unique options located within the rainforests, mountains, or beachfront. Feel free to ask us for recommendations - though if we love it too, we may crash your spot at some point!

Question

What are your fondest memories of your Puerto Rico travels?

Answer

From Jess: That's a really tough question as I have many! Mia will recall this (maybe not fondly), but Mike planned a "hike" through the rainforest in search of a waterfall where we could swim. We sported our bikinis & packed a light bag as we planned for what we thought was our very leisurely hike. Mike accidentally found the wrong "trail" & Mia and I thought we might die along the way. But when we finally made it, it was incredible! Another memory (with Mia) is when our car couldn't make it up the mountain to the English Rose (breakfast restaurant). We had to find a new way (and next time we will get a car with at least 1 horse-power). Also, the puppies on the beach! PR is known for dogs that roam the island & they are quite friendly & adorable! From Mike: Our Vieques adventure, replete with yet another POS rental car, has to top the list. Vieques is famous for its amazing beaches. You can't bring a rental car from the main island to Vieques, though, so we had to rent another while there to find these amazing beaches. While our first beach was amazing & we had it nearly to ourselves the whole time, we wanted to explore more, to maybe find an even more remote beach. And we did. But to get there, we had to traverse the most ridiculous "road" I've ever encountered. Upon finding this mix of dirt & sand, deeply rutted from flowing water cutting mini rivers through it, & entirely ensconced by tropical foliage, Jess & I looked at each other a bit befuddled when Waze said turn left. And yet, with our goofy & already heavily scratched Kia Soul, we plodded on, laughing the whole way at the insanity! We emerged from the jungle path to find one of the most breathtaking coastline views we've ever seen. We've had several other amazing times, but this absolutely tops the list. And yes we have a video. Other favorites: the El Yunque waterfall hike straight out of Indiana Jones, our amazing meals all over the island, & watching the sunset in Rincon. Can't wait to make more!

Question

What is your favorite thing about each other?

Answer

From Jess: I love so many things about Mike but if I had to pick only one, it's his passion. Mike does NOTHING half-hearted. Whether it's cooking, playing the drums, being a lawyer, playing boardgames, or just loving me, he does everything with his whole heart. His passion encourages him to research & learn new perspectives every day. He is constantly searching out the best way to do anything & everything. Anyone that knows Mike knows that he is reliable, honest, caring, hardworking & would give the proverbial "shirt off his back" for anyone he loves. Sometimes he can be too passionate on some topics, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Every day is an adventure! He loves me truly in every way imaginable. That's a comfort & a feeling I never thought I'd find in this lifetime. Mike, you are my best friend & my world & I cannot wait to spend my life with you. Do not ever change you because I am so crazy in love with the person you are. From Mike: Tough to pin down just one thing, so I won't. Once you gain her trust, Jess loves completely, generously, honestly, & without reservation. She maintains this character both personally & professionally. Jess' strong character exudes confidence & compels trust, all in an incredibly sweet & loving way. She's far more patient & thoughtful than I deserve, but then again she's made me more patient & inspires thoughtfulness in return. Jess is also an amazing go-with-the-flow fun time, & yet always recognizes when it's time to buckle down & work. We both started new jobs in 2025 & we knew that would involve some growing pains for both of us. That was certainly true, but we've both subsequently created a great work-life balance & there's no way I'd have been able to do that without her. Lastly, for whatever reason, she loves to clean, and I hate cleaning! And while she hates cooking, I love it! Match made in heaven. I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you, my best friend & my best companion in all of the ways!

Question

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

Answer

From Jess: Unequivocally and without pause, my Mom. I will cry as I attempt to convey my feelings about the most beautiful person on this earth, both inside and out. We are each other's only, but I would choose her over and over again in every lifetime if given that opportunity. My Mom has been my biggest cheerleader since the day I was born, and she never stopped. Even as an adult, she still stands by my side for every up and down, some harder than others. She does it without hesitation and without expecting anything in return. I do not say these words because she is my Mother. I truly thank God that he blessed me with a Mom who is also a mentor, inspirationalist, therapist, teacher, and friend to anyone that knows her. Those who know her are lucky. I am lucky beyond words to call her "mine." Mom, in addition to providing me with a lifetime of support and love, I also thank you for everything you are doing for us and for our wedding. You are a huge part of making this a dream come true. I love you more than words will ever capture. From Mike: My parents, hands down. To say I've idolized them is a severe understatement. Their intellect, work ethic, honesty, creativity, silliness, and generosity have enabled them to spend nearly 60 years of marriage together while raising a family that loves them dearly. Like any family, and me in particular, we've endured many challenges, big and small, but have come through them together with unconditional love and support. They both shaped who I am today.
