We met the "old fashioned" way - online. After weeks of endless chats, along with many questionable "Dad jokes," we decided to pick a day and time for our first date. We settled on a Wednesday in February 2024, only to realize that it happened to be Valentine's Day. We both giggled awkwardly upon realizing the date we had accidentally selected and unanimously agreed that you cannot have a first date on Valentine's Day. Our first official date was therefore moved to February 13th at the Food Market in Columbia, followed by an arcade (for big kids). That should have been the first clue that Jess would never win in any sort of competitive game against Mike. Aside from the arcade beating, the date went so well that we also ended up spending Valentine's Day together anyway, and will spend every Valentine's Day together for the rest of our lives. As we learned more and more about each other, and began experiencing more of the world together, we fell in love with Puerto Rico along the way. The island embodies a culture, people, and a feeling that is truly special. We knew we wanted to marry there from our very first trip together. We hope you experience it, and love it the way we do! After years of searching for our "missing piece," we had both just about given up on love and finding that special person and love that just made sense. You know, the one everyone talks about where you just "know" but you can't quite understand why or how. We are not perfect but we are perfect for each other and we cannot imagine spending our lifetimes apart. This world, our world, finally made sense, together.
