LAX is the biggest hub and probably most affordable and convenient. Burbank Airport is smaller but slightly closer to Santa Barbara, if that's more your vibe. Any of the LA-area airports should work as well. Lastly, Santa Barbara does have it's own, small airport if you prefer. Times to Santa Barbara (by car) from: LAX — 100 min Burbank — 90 min
Train
The Pacific Surfer is a convenient travel option for getting to Santa Barbara from the LA-area and/or airports for those who don't want to drive/rent a car — and it goes along the coast the whole way providing beautiful views! The train line stops at each LA-area airport.
