On May 1st, 2021 Chris helped Melissa with her packages. They got to talking & quickly realized they both moved into their building on the same floor & on the same day from Boston. Melissa couldn’t stop thinking about how kind Chris was so she decided to write him a note on a blue post it and left it outside of his door. The note read “Chris - it was very nice meeting you! Thanks again for helping me with my packages. I am unsure of your situation but if you are up for it we should have drinks on our roof. Here is my number” - a day later he reached out and they had drinks. The rest is history from there and they have hung out almost every day since! They knew they were meant to meet!

On June 18th Chris had asked Melissa to go to Spring Lake, NJ which is one of their favorite beaches. This also happened to be Father’s Day. Melissa’s father, Gerald Scala, who is unfortunately no longer with us asked that his ashes be placed in the ocean so going to the beach on this day was very special to begin with. Chris had asked Melissa to take a walk with him and proposed on the beach so her father could be apart of the special day & also turned a very difficult day into such a happy, celebratory day. If you knew Gerald Scala, you knew all he ever wanted was Melissa to get married, maybe mentioned it once a day. Melissa’s mother met them for lunch afterwards where champagne was popped and many more celebratory drinks were consumed. The thought that Chris put into this proposal was one Melissa could never imagine and will never forget.
